Anyone ever done a proper before and after dyno with one of these to see if it's really anything more than just a noise maker? And not talking someone who has a well calibrated "butt dyno" talking a real dynojet or mustang dyno that you drive on to.

I'll contact my old Honda Tuner and see how much it is for a dyno run ...

I'll post my before and after ...

Question: if you have a ECU determining optimal fuel air mixture based on set parameters and using feedback from sensors what will happen if you add more air? It won't be any colder as its drawing from the same place so that's a wash. Just curious what you guys think.

no matter what the ecu will still be adding more fuel because you have more air flow ...

My plan is to use the TRD CAI in conjunction with a ARB snorkel to creat a ram air effect...

Put about 75 miles on tonight post install and the most noticeable differences are definitely in the upper end of the power band. 2nd gear feels like it has more oomph as well.

Don't forget to give the ECU a chance to 'adjust' for the CAI (not that I believe it will have ANY effect at all aside from noise ), and try to note environmental conditions of each dyno run since they will be days apart. Make sure you are using the same octane fuel as well (whatever you are running now as your truck has tuned itself to that octane: it's too late to try and go for 93 Octane now with your dyno run in just 2 days).

Will you be testing CAI and Cat-Back Exhaust incrementally? Or testing from Stock to CAI+Cat Back? Would be cool to see difference from CAI alone, Cat-Back alone, and then both combined...

Curiously awaiting the outcome (not expecting much over here or I would have done a CAI and Exhaust the first month I had my T4R!). A quiet 'stock' intake/exhaust just makes my audio install sound that much louder by comparison ;) Can't stand the drone of most any aftermarket muffler on a V6, but if there are actual HP gains with all else equal, I might have to re-consider (again, not holding my breath considering the Toyota ECU is still involved ).

Tomorrow will be just a baseline...

I should have the intake installed by end of the month and dyno first weeks of Febuary and then I plan on getting the FlowMaster exhaust system just cuz I like the sound of the flowmaster better. More metalic than the Magnaflow... Then dyno at the end of febuary

Everything will be dyno'ed in 2wd and on 87 Octane.

Cool - sounds good. Make notes of the environmental conditions at the time of each respective dyno, too (mainly temperature - we see 30 degree swings a few times a week this time of year!).

Any other mods in the meanwhile that might inadvertently skew this "Control"?

If we want this to be a deterministic 'be-all, end-all' it will need to be very tightly controlled for the results across the next month to have significant meaning. Otherwise it is just for fun (and nothing wrong with that AT ALL, but the scope of this project should be known up front IMO as lots of skeptics [like me] will be all over this).

Can you re-dyno again right before you install the CAI and see if your two stock dyno runs (a few weeks apart) are agreeable? Maybe wait until you have access to the Dyno again before you slap in the CAI?

Not very feasible to dyno over and over... its costing me $75 each 3 runs...

Doing tomorrow baseline and run with the cold air and then cold air + full exhaust...

Is all am doing...

I should find a dyno then because I am religiously running 92 octane (since birth) and added the TRD intake. I am 4wd however :-/

Roger Dodger. I thought this was a 'hook-up' from a compadre or sompthin' - certainly don't expect you to drop hard earned cash to appease us skeptics with a rigorous test plan and such

Interested none-the-less

I believe TheWraith is 4x4, but will obviously dyno on a 2-wheel Dyno in 2WD. I don't believe 2WD vs 4WD T4R's would have a difference in engine or ECU mappings, but there certainly can be a deviation from truck to truck.

No CAI on my '13 SR5, but 92 (or 93) octane for every one of my 63K Miles (minus the 87 Octane the Dealer filled it up with back in November of 2012). I'm a sucker for fuel system additives and the "Feel good" assumption that the ECU is squeaking out a few more HP's and Torques with the higher octane numbers. I know others have stated they've seen published specs that indicate the 4.0 Dual VVTi gains around 10HP with 93 Octane over 87 Octane. I'd love to see this proved once-and-for-all on a dyno as well!!!

Hats off to you
