Toyota Website TE
FYI, TE option is finally on the Toyota website for build.
No salsa red or shoreline blue options anymore.
Edit: I'm in the So Cal region

Just checked the Tri-state region and Salsa Red is available here but no shoreline blue.

Damn, I'm jealous of you guys down in the US who can get Nav on the TE. Didn't know that KDSS was an option in the US.... it's standard up in Canada.

Perhaps best not to look at what they pay either - it makes me weep every time somebody here quotes what they paid in the US.

Haha that too... a fully loaded TE (with nav) has a sticker price LESS than an SR5 upgrade package and the TE up here. Only a few thousand more than a base SR5 as well.
The difference is even worse for other vehicles. Back in 05 or 06, I remember Subaru STI's were $50k new up here, and about $35k down in the US.

So, why is this? The difference CAD to USD is a few pennies.

The Toyota official line is that vehicles in Canada are specially adapted for our harsh winters (anyone in various Northern US states want to ask Toyota why their truck is not adapted for their winters?) and we have special extra features. As far as I can tell the mudflaps on the Canadian TE are $5,000+ a set on that basis. The short answer is "because they can". To add to the insult, Toyota prevents US dealers from selling new vehicles to Canadian residents .

Well they are nice mudflaps!
Many other companies have done/currently do the same thing, or something similar, to prevent Canadians from saving money by purchasing from the US. Nissan won't honour your warranty if you purchase a new US truck and bring it up to Canada... it has to be registered and on the road for 6 months before you can bring it up and keep your warranty. Can-Am (part of Bombardier) doesn't allow US dealers to sell ATVs to Canadians at all.
It is dumb... obviously Toyota Canada is just trying to protect themselves from losing too many sales to the US... but if our prices were a little closer there would be no reason to go down to the US to buy cars (the exception being for certain packages/models not offered up here).

Same with everything up here... just a big rip-off. The only reasoning I see behind it is that fewer vehicles are sold up here.... so in order to generate some more profit they jack up prices. Say in the US, 100 Nissan GT-Rs are sold per month (just pulling these numbers out of the sky), where as in Canada only 120 are sold per YEAR. Hence the reason in the US you pay $89,000 for a new one, and $99,000 for a new one in Canada. Does it make up for the lower sales? No... but it does generate a little bit of extra profit.

I just read an article the other day about the cost differences in Canada and apparently the Canadian government charges a 6.1% tax on imports right on top. Plus we do get "extra" features here in Canuckville. Running boards, mud flaps, block heater and daytime running lights to name a few... I am not justifying it, just stating some of the reasons. Also, they say that shipping/delivery is more expensive up here too.
