Warning Dash Lights Triggered By my Lift???
Hey guys,
Today I had a Daystar 2.5"/1.5" Top spacer and Rear coil installed on my limited.
The installer sent the truck to NTB for the alignment and told me to pick it up from there. NTB told me they couldnt get the camber to exact specs but very close and alignment is fine,
BUT
They also said that there are 3 lights on the dash they can't get to turn off now:
1)ABS
2)Traction Control
3)and another warning light which shows for wheels(the two front turned to the right) connected by line with an X through it, and this light is flashing on and off(not sure what this one is).
My installer is gone for the day, so I stopped at the Toyota dealer and they said they would need a minumum fee of around $250 for diagnostic fee. They said that once you mess with the suspension that the computer could be triggered by a multitude of things.
This is my first time ever having a vehicle lifted and I am kind of freaking out now hoping I didn't F up by having this done. Any one have any advice for me I would appreciate it greatly.
thanks

No need to freak out .
Most likely a bad ABS brake wire.Usually one of the front 2. They are a resistance wire and are very fragile. They should always be taken loose at the clamp points before the install but alot of the time they are not . Same thing happeneed to Ciaz when he had a lift installed. Same BS story from the "Stealership" too.
How did they put the spacers in the front CO's? Being a Limited with XReas ,I hope they didn't let any fluid out of the shocks.

Where is your 4WD knob pointed? - Wonder if you have it turned to 4WD with diff locked. That flashing symbol indicates the central diff trying to lock I think.

Pretty sure that means it won't let you lock the center diff because the ABS system and traction control systems were shut down .

Might need to do a zero point calibraion too. That may be the case for the traction control. As for the locking diff, did you accidentally hit the button( or the mechanic?). Im not familiar with the 5th gen, but the FJ has a lock diff button that stays on even when you shut off the truck. Its one of those annoying buttons.

I am going with what Harper said this is probably the case you might even be able to stick your head around the tire and see for yourself if they broke the wire.

thanks,
The 4wd knob hasnt been touched, its at H4F
The spacers in the front were installed without having to compress the spring or remove the strut. Harper, I printed out a bunch of info that you had suggested about the xreas system for extra info for them. The top spacers sits right on top of the strut and the kit includes these bolt extension type things(not sure what they are called) so you dont need to compress the spring and remove the bolts, it is literally just a top spacer.
Honestly I looked around the tire and I dont know what I am looking for, not sure what an ABS wire would even look like.
Is it dangerous to drive it right now, it seemed to drive like normal but who knows. Just not sure what to do right now and who to take this up with.

You can't see it broken because it has a rubber sleeve and is internal. The rubber stretches but the wire inside breaks....... OME's and have a bad speed sensor, help! - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum
The location of broken wire can possibly be found with an ohmmeter and the wiring diagrams. They usually just change them.

Even though they didn't remove the CO's they still had to drop them down to install the spacers. If they don't take the ABS wires loose, all the weight of the wheel is on the wire. It's a black rubber coated wire and there are 3 attach/clamping points for the ABS wire going to the wheel with 10mm bolts that they should have been taken loose.
Safety.....the ABS system can't work with input from 3 wheels so the ECU shuts it down. Along with the traction control and anything else getting input from the ABS controller. Just drive a little extra safe without ABS and you still have regular braking. You will just have to use self induced ABS like man did for the first 75 years of driving......aka "pumping the brakes" for an emergency stop.

Well keep us posted . I wish I could be of some help , but I would bother me and freak me out too. I hope I do not have these issues when I install my lift. I also don't want to spend 250.00 for a diagnostic plus money for the fixes or adjustments.
Out of curiosity which DS lit did you have installed ?? The 6pc kit (2 rear spacers and 4 front pieces ) or the 4pc kit (2 rear spacers and 2 front spacers ) ??
The reason I ask is that if you have all topout spacer in front this can over extend things . IMO the the all topout kit can cause issues. Where did you buy the kit ??

I bought the 4pc kit, 2 rear spring coils and 2 front top spacers. I gave my installer some suggestions from people on this site and it clearly said to undo the "brackets" for the xreas lines and ABS lines so not to stress them, but I have a feeling they didnt do this.
This just sucks now, I guess I'll call the installer and tell him the dealer is going to charge an arm and a leg for this and that its not my responsibilty. From what I read from harpers posts and the link to Duc Hunters problems I'm assuming its the abs wire. I'm not sure if thats something they can repair, or if they or myself need to order the parts. I wish I new more about cars but I really dont know squat. I'm just very frustrated about this whole thing.

what type of shop did the install ??
I still feel for ya though . It would have been nice to just get it done and enjoy it instead of all the screwing around. That 4pc also can stretch things out a bit so make sure you have enough free play.
I hope you get this resolved , I know I would be stressed about it.

The same thing happened to my t4r, various lights lite on my dash. The installer disregarded my request to disconnect the front ABS cables. The wires were actually streached when changing out the front spring/shock assembly. The wire is coated with a plastic cover it is very difficult to identify the internal damage. Wires showed signs of stress where they are held (clamped) near the UCA, and the plastic coating is thinned out. I just order a new set on-line and replaced in 10 minutes (installer reimbursed me for them). Good as new. No need to go to dealer.
Note: Cables are about $43.00 each

Harness, Front Sensor
R 89516-60260 $58.05msrp and $43.09 from ToyotaPartSales dot com
L 89516-60270 $58.05msrp $43.09
Not to worry as it's not that big of deal .At least they didn't let the fluid out of the Xreas.......that would be a big deal!
Now show us some pics!

Haha, this forum rocks! I appreciate all the responses and everyone looking out for me. Would have no clue where to start without this forum
(I also would have never got into this situation if it wasnt for this damn forum, I didnt even know what a lift was until I started looking at all the sweet mods everyone was doing
I had the work done at a 4x4 shop that specializes in lifts. I'll give him a call today and let him know whats going on.
I'll get pics early next week, going out of town for the wknd today, was too frustrated to think about pics yesterday.
