Since I got my SR5 back in the fall I have really wanted to beef up my tires and have been searching around for what would be a good fit. Something aggressive enough to do some relatively serious off-roading while not being overkill for my daily driver.
So I'm looking around and every good tire out there is like $250 and up. I just can't justify dropping that kind of money on new tires. But where am I going to find used mud terrains with a lot of life and haven't been used and abused?
Then it hit me. The stock Jeep Rubicon. There are TONS of brand new Rubicon owners looking to step up to bigger and better things immediately upon purchase and the market is saturated with BF Goodrich KMs on the bigger Jeep message boards. They're 255/75r17 which corresponds to about a half inch taller and half inch skinnier than the stock Dunlops.
I got a set of 4 with just under 1,000 highway miles on them and no offroading for $550 and turned around and sold my Dunlops with 6,500 miles on them for $400. $150 for better less used tires? Not a bad deal.
