Brakes Dragging?

Drove home about 80 miles the other day. When I pulled into the garage and hopped out I immediately smelled burning brakes and could feel the heat coming from the left rear wheel only.
Not sure what could have triggered this. Nothing unusual happened during the drive home (no hard braking, aggressive driving, etc).
Anyone have any experience with this?
I bought a Toyota so I wouldn't have to deal with this crap, but its in the shop for the second time in 2 weeks. Let ya'll know what the dealer says.
And yes smarta$$es, the parking brake was off, thanks!

I'm wondering if that parking brake is simply hanging up at the wheel but yet appears to be released from inside the vehicle (no parking brake light on) This vehicle has one of those drum-in-disc parking brakes and problably only on one wheel. (the one that's smoking for you). Had something similar happen with my daughter's car not long ago except it was a front caliper that was hung. I swear you could have easily fried eggs on the rotor.

So apparently the parking brake was too tight and had to be adjusted. How could this have just started happening at 17k?

Anyone know for sure which wheel the parking brake locks up on the 5th gen? Figured it would be both rear wheels.

Both wheels.

Interesting, I would think by 17k miles, the parking break would be already worn in. I remember my dad telling me to either "use the parking break all the time, or not at all". I guess because it could get hung, etc. I use mine everywhere personally, just a habbit. I haven't noticed it hang or anything thus far, but thanks for the info. I'll know what to look for...

Both wheels.

Copy, thanks!

Took it for a test drive on the freeway. Pulled over quickly and checked all 4 wheels for heat. They all seemed to be about the same temp. Hopefully problem solved.

I use the parking brake occasionally, but will probabaly make it a habit to keep things moving.
