Help! Slider install at a standstill

Putting on my sliders right now and can't get the stick nuts off the sticks. How do you do that. It's dark an I'm getting a bit frustrated an bitten by bugs out here.

First, put on some bug lotion. Then explain what the hell a stick nut is.

Stick nut is a bolt tacked onto a short metal stick. Comes with te shrockworks sliders or frames without threaded holes

I didn't think the sticks came off the nuts. I don't think you could get them off if you tried, they are tack welded on. I slid them into the frame rails and tightened them up. Done deal.

+1 what Dispense said.

The "sticks" on the stick nuts aren't meant to be removed. Without them the nuts would just spin 'round as you attempt to tighten the bolt.

Leave the "stick" hanging out of the frame and once you've tighten the bolt, bend/tuck the stick out of the way so you don't rip your face open every time you crawl under your 4Runner.

I think shrockworks may have changed them up a little. I was helping jonseyyy install his and the piece of metal the nut was welded to was too large to fit in the farme opening. The batch that came with my sliders didn't have that problem though. I'd call shrockworks and make them send you new ones if you can't modify them to fit.

Yep - the nut was welded to a large square piece of metal that didn't fit through all of the frame holes. Got it all finished but jimmying those sticky nuts through the holes in the frame was a royal pain. Also declined to drill into the frame for the front passenger side. But, they're on!

When I received my kit of nuts, I did not have enough of the correct size. Recommend you count before you start. Also make sure you have at least 1 jack to assist with holding up the gas tank before you start (recommend the gas tank is near empty -- Mine was full when I started it was a little much to push up, put the bolt in and use a ratchet!
