passenger window wouldn't close

earlier this week when i closed the windows; the passenger front window would close, then immediately open back to half way.
I got it to close by reaching over and closing on the passenger door.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Note: i did a search and didn't find any threads related to this issue.

Most of the time when that happens its due to dirt build up in the window run channel. Just clean out the run channel and the edge of the window with a wet towel and that should help out.

I don't know about the 4R, but many other toyotas (Scion, Camry, Corolla) allow you to reset the window as well.
Usually, you need to turn the ignition into the "ON" position, Lower the window of each door halfway or more with the power window switch, Then close the window fully with the power window switch, Do not release the switch for at least 2 seconds after the window is fully closed.

I had a similar issue with my rear window. However I was testing the safety feature to ensure that if anything pushes down on the window it opens and will not shut. After doing this a few times the window would not roll up past that point. There may be some logic that after sometime the window feeling tension/resistance it will open back up and set a soft limit. I powered off the truck and this reset that and I was able to roll it back up. Or as stated by M320 you could have had some dirt causing that tension/resistance and kicking in that safety.

Maybe it never got initialized correctly for jam protection. There's a Technical Service Bulletin on it that is easy to do.Disconnect the ground(-) ,at the battery and then reconnect it. It takes a 10mm open end .
Then do this TSB..... T-SB-0281-09
It shows the switches for a 2009 but says it's for a 2010.

It says it for 2010's but probably is the same for 2011's.
Hope it helps!

Here's the one for the back door window.....T-SB-0279-09

These should be done any time after disconnecting and reconnecting your battery for them to work properly.
