Homelink rewiring?

Has anybody attempted to rewire their Homelink so that there is no power going to the Homelink switches after the car is turned off? As far as I can tell, even with the car off, the power remains available to the Homelink buttons thus anyone can open the garage door if they break into your 4Runner.

I have had the entire O/H console apart. The Homelink buttons connect directly to switches soldered to a circuitboard. You could probably switch the hot wire that feeds the circuit though... I'll check tonight for ya- see what I can come up with.

Well, I see the "garage door opener" mentioned in the WD but it's nowhere to be found. Perhaps I'm missing it. If this is something you definitely want to do, next time I get a chance I'll pop down the console and figure it out. Can't be too hard...

Is it possible that if you were able to switch the homelink to keyed only, that you would also have to reprogram it each time it loses power?
