cargo area help!!!

has anyone taken the panels off the sides in the cargo area? specifically the lighter colored parts just behind and above the seats?

or, does anyone know what the structure behind it is like? is there metal right behind it?

thanks!

Took them all off except the headliner and upper dash. You have to work from the bottom up. Sliding tray out first. It's all in the repair manual under the "interior" section.

Here's some pics....https://picasaweb.google.com/1107645...ningWithEDead#

There's actually alot of wasted space behind them. What are you thinking of doing?

Attachment points for a cargo net. That would be a real pain yo take the entire cargo area apart just to look behind there

I was wondering about a similar problem I am anticipating. As you know there are 4 decent tie downs off of the slider. I was truly hoping someone might know what the possibilities would be of attaching some of these to the sliding deck:

Anchor Plate Kits - VersaTie Pack (1/4" x 1" fastener)

How strong is the material that the sliding platform is made of? Any one know what kind of material it is made of?

The sliding tray is made of dense styrofoam sandwiched between either a plastic or fiberglass material. I drilled some holes in the tray and potted some nuts to hold my Saris Traps bike mounts is how I know.

Those Versatie anchor plates look really nice. They look very similar to the ones in the airplane cargo holds that we call tie down pucks. It's a great design. You could drill thru the sliding tray and use a washer and nut on the backside with longer bolts and it would be pretty secure.

I am talking about filling a Pelican case with a full Kitchen, Probably weighs near 50 pounds, then assorted dry goods and clothing in another case at an additional 35 pounds. My Engel Fridge is mounted to the sliding tray already. I am concerned about two things; one is more likely than the other and neither are desired. Slow speed rollover due to terrain, or a collision.

Do you think the foam board will stand up to that and also the mounting brackets holding the foam board to sliding mechanism?

I am 230 pounds and I have extended the slider all the way out and sat on it with my fridge mounted, and it was fine. What do you think? Will it withstand the weight I am suggesting tied to it? Granted a collision is a bigger question due to the g's created, but in general what are your thoughts.

The next question. Is there any way to lock the seats down in the all flat position? I would like to mount some of the Mac Tie Down's in inconspicuous locations in the floorboard as well so I can tie down to the seats when in the down position. Ideally, I would rather attach the tie downs to the backs of the seats, but I could probably make the floor board work as well if the seats cannot be locked in the all flat position.

Thanks for your sage advice Harper7!!

I'm really sorry about the thread jack. I'm not really like that, please forgive me. Thanks,

Please let us know if anyone has ever installed a tie down point on the pillar. Anyone have any ideas about it? This would be a great place for one.
