Bluetooth incoming call ringer

Hey guys, just picked up my brand new SR5 on Saturday and couldn't be more excited! Having said that I already have questions....

When receiving a call on bluetooth there is no ringer. The stereo turns off and my phone rings but that doesn't seem right that the car doesn't do anything. Am I the only one having this problem or did Toyota design it this way?

And before I get yelled at for not using the search function I have read through as many bluetooth posts as I could stand and no one seemed to address this specific issue. So any advice would be great.

Btw its an SR5 with the non-nav factory bluetooth.

Thanks for the help!

what phone are you using? I have a feeling it is phone specific.

on mine i get a ringing noise from the speakers, then after one ring the ringtone on my phone comes through the speaker. it's quite a horrible noise.

Once paired (Droid Incredible) my radio turns off, brief silent pause, then the ring over the speaker. I do not get the 'horrible noise' Ryan gets with his though.

I know when paired, say streaming Pandora, the media volume on your phone is directly related to the volume of the head unit. If I have my 'media volume' silent it does not matter how loud I turn the stereo, no sound. For my phone it does not matter what I have the ringer set at, it will always ring, curious if that is different on your phone though. Just a thought.

I wish I still had my incredible... Asurion sent me a Droid X after I broke it. Maybe I should try resetting it? Or just turning bluetooth off and back on... If thats even an option on the car? I think i read on here that it might fix problems. I've only had it for 2 days so I haven't tried it yet. I would hate to lose all my contacts since its a PITA to sync them one by one if I reset it too. Guess I'll just keep messing with it. Thanks for the help

I'm bumping this because my wife's does the same thing and I can't figure out how to stop it. Any solutions? It's a really loud alert sound that a call is coming in but we just want it to play the phone's ringer alone.

I had a similar problem, but mine was that the volume was too loud. I tried everything, finally I figured out that the ringer volume was adjusted by the volume button on the steering wheel, while it is ringing.

Yeah the first time my phone rang via the bluetooth system it almost gave me a stroke. It was the loudest, high pitched sound I have ever heard. For someone to have the exact opposite issue is almost amusing to me. However, you can control the volume via the controls on the steering wheel as the call is coming in as was stated above.

Hi T4R2k,

No worries, You only need go to "Phone Settings". There, you will find your phone setting options such as...Ringtone, ringer vol, display options, etc.....

Most likely, your bluetooth-hands free ringer configuration, is set on "Silent"; the same way your cell phone has an option for that.

Go to "set-up"; Large button on dashboard. That'll take you to your phone settings menu; it's pretty user friendly so just follow the prompts, as well as the most logical objective path, and you'll find your way.

Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the SR5 audio system, so I am unable to scoot you through without seeing it. Should you get into trouble though, don't panic. Just refer to the "Display audio system owner's manual". It's really easy to understand; and if I can do it....so can you.

Congrats on your new SR5, Great choice!

rigtec, Peace
