Improve SR5 cornering (sway bars, Bilstein shocks?)

Hi,

I use my 5th gen SR5 for 15% off road, 5% city and 80% highway.

My only grips with my SR5 is the cornering on the highway. Way to much roll, and I'm not driving that fast (about 60mph)

So I'm looking for an way to improve that. What would be the most efficient way? (Stiffer sway bars,Bilstein shocks, etc?) Will that affect my toyota warranty?

Thank you very much!

If you still have the OEM tires, that is your first change out. Get 6 or 8 ply Light truck tires and you will be amazed at the difference.......

I just replaced my front shocks on my 2011 sr5 with bilstein 5100s to level it out and improve the ride. What a big difference you would be amazed with the improvement in the ride, when my funding is better I may do the rear as well. I just got my 4r in April and already spent 8 or 9 hundred in goodies.

Seriously, I just don't understand all the comments about body roll in the corners?! Did everyone drive sports cars before their 4R?

Nose dive during hard breaking, I get it 100%!

I take the corners to the on ramp (sometimes right at the speed where the tires start to make that fun sequel) and I have NO problem with the body roll.

I have driven a LOT worse SUV's with more body roll (cough cough Expedition). Guess it just does not bother me. I have a feeling I will end up with the 5100's for the nose dive though.

if I don't need any lift, should I take the bilstein HD over the 5100?

Thanks!

The thing with the 5100's is the springs are compressed more (preloaded) when u adjust for ride hight so how much does that affect it, I really don't know to be honest but my guess would be any bilsteins will help. I got mine from down south offroad for 172.00 when I called them and mentioned this site, they seemed to be very knowledgeable and helpful.

i got bilstein 5100 front and back along with the spidertrax 1.25 spacers and the difference is night and day.. stiffer springs.. less roll and less nose dive on braking.. spacers widened the track of the car.. more stable in corners..

also got falken rocky mountain AT tires but not sure if that helped with handling.. but definitely on the looks side

and to the poster above.. not sure about others.. but yes i did come from a sports car.. a fully tuned 2008 lancer evolution X pushing 400 hp and full track suspension.. so yes i feel like im in a boat in the 4runner

In your opinion does only the front are enough or I should have front and rear done at the same time?

Getting 'used to it' means it was noticed at 1st then just accept as a way of life. I never noticed it to begin with. I have always driven 4WD vehicles SUV's & P/U's. I can not remember the last time I even drove a car! This 4R seems more 'planted' in corners that anything I have driven before. I guess there is always room for improvement with anything though.

Are you still running the OEM tires?

I traded a 2005 4wd tundra limited for my runner and a 4wd Tacoma before that let's just say I feel that the roll is more pronounced and softer in the runner.
