If I let off the throttle slightly at about 2300 or so, it occurs dropping down the rpms but if I get back on the gas just after it stops, it happens on the way up in about the same rpm band.
Anyone experience something similar and (more importantly) figure out a way to get rid of it? I checked all the connections and everything is sound.

I had this exact noise after installing the intake. Tried to chase it for a while thinking it was a leak, but couldn't find any. I think it has something to do with the recirculation pump, who knows, it didn't affect the car in any way. Like another member mentioned, I eventually liked to joke around that it was the turbo. It did go away after installing the supercharger though. I guess that could be a fix ? Hahaha
