Installation is a breeze. There was a little extra plastic that needed trimmed to get the switch to plug in cleanly, but it's literally a 5 minute project.

Can you achieve nearly the same thing just by jamming the pedal a bit? Yes.

That said, the truck feels so much more 'effortless'.
It just goes so much easier.

My mileage has gone up about 1 mpg. Only been 250 miles so far.

While I certainly understand those that are content just to save the $ and drive it a bit more aggressively, I feel like that for less than the cost of nearly any single car payment the car feels more punchy and enjoyable to drive.

The previous opinions stating this is how the vehicle should have been tuned from the factory have summarized it best.

I'm heading out on a 300 mile fishing trip this Friday so will have more detail in a couple weeks. Barring something unexpected on the trip, I'm keeping it.
your mpg went up? interesting, and contrary to what one would expect (typically pushing pedal harder for more vroom-vroom-zoom-zoom).

Yea....

I can't see it going up.
Purely co-incidence.

Gas mileage

It'd be cool if more people would post their gas mileage results after this mod!

It may well just be a coincidence, but I was routinely averaging right around 18 before and it's been 19.1 since I added it.

Same daily routine.

That makes sense - slightly increased mpg

Seems like the benefit would come from not having to mash the pedal to the floor to get the same acceleration.

Thanks for the information - excellent thread.

That's what it does.
Takes out the "hesitation factor" and increases throttle response.

Disclaimer: I have one installed and wish Toyota would have this installed with an OEM model.
I love the way it makes my T4R feel as far as throttle response.

Maybe you are actually driving differently because of the feel of response from the install and not the SprintBooster itself.

From their website:
How It Works

Sprint Booster modifies the signal between the accelerator pedal module and the electronic throttle body. This modified signal forces the throttle body to open 'more' than the stock signal at a given pedal position. In effect, the idle-to-full-throttle pedal travel is reduced. This makes your car 'feel' more powerful because a given pedal input produces greater throttle opening. This is especially evident in the low to mid rpm range where most cars spend their time on the street.

Sprint Booster simply modifies the throttle signal between the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Big deal right? Keep in mind, this is the same concept as the 'throttle pulley' modification on cable based throttle systems - which was very popular in it's time. It doesn't add horsepower, but makes the throttle more sensitive and makes the car 'feel' faster.

My mpg's went from 16.7 to 16.9 after installing the sprint booster. Doesn't make sense other then the the truck feels easier to drive..

The transmission seems to have more mellowed out as well... When I first installed the SB and I would give it a little throttle the truck would I immediately downshift, now it's just unlocks the torque converter and relocks once I get to speed.

My truck has only a few thousand miles so this could be a characteristic of breaking in and or learning my habits.

This seems to make the most sense to me, but I'm certainly no engineer. - I'm pushing less on the gas as I'm getting the desired result without having to.

I'm going to be putting about 500 miles on it starting later this week so we'll see how it goes.

Thx for the input. I agree with you completely regarding OEM. Based on the number of remarks on here citing less than desired performance from the 4L, this would have almost certainly been enough for many of them.

+1 for the Sprint Booster for me!!

I picked up my 2016 White TEP today. (Pics coming soon - right now its just stock) Installed the Sprint Booster and did several runs by my home in stock, green, and red mode. What a difference in response! As with most other users, I see myself using the green mode, red mode is too aggressive.

One note on install - it is a LOT easier to undo the two 10mm nuts, remove the pedal assembly, and install that way than trying to snake your arms up under the dash and unplug the damn connector that way. If you undo the nuts, total of 5 minutes time to get this job done. I spent 15 minutes cussing and shifting and trying to unplug the factory plug the other way - hope this helps someone out there.

Thanks again to all for the recommendation on this product!

If anyone is interested in one of these let me know. It's been installed for about 2 months(prior to last week) before my son started driving the 4R most of the time. He doesn't need any encouragement at all.....

Receipt for warranty included.
PM any offers.

If no interest, it's going on CL and/or Ebay as soon as I have time to list.
------------------------------------
Edit - thanks for the interest.
Sold and shipped!

I would.
I liked the way the truck drove a lot better with it installed.

IIRC, you had 30 days to return it as well so it's fairly low risk to try it out.

Tonight installed with green light programing. Took longer to wire tie harness than install booster.

So my wife and I took a ride today in her 2015. Man if felt like a dog but I just figured the V8 in my LS460 I'm used to driving every day (that by the way should be in the 4 runner) was clouding my judgment. On our ride home I looked down under the dash to see if the Sprint Booster light was on and low and behold it was off. I clicked it on to green and bada bing my throttle response was back baby. Night and day. Love it Love it Love it. This mod make the 4 runner run like it should. The oem throttle response is sad and this fixes it right up.
