Retain XM with aftermarket deck?

Limited with JBL, no NAV - anyway to retain my factory AUX and XM with an aftermarket deck? I'm 100% sure I can figure out the AUX, it's just a stereo jack, but XM - not really sure where to start.. =\

As long as the aftermarket head unit is XM ready you should just have to change the RadioID on your subscription. Don't know about the connections but assume you have an adapter that can be used w/ the native wiring - should connect to the factory antenna without issue. Once the new unit is in it will display the RadioID & you call XM to change it.

If I understand the XM policy correctly, you can transfer your XM subscription to a XM radio unless you have a lifetime subscription. The latter is non-transferrable. Other subscriptions are transferrable for a transfer fee based on your subscription plan.

As far as the transfer fee it is $15, I got mine waived yesterday when I told them it was because my last radio was in a totaled 4R. It was very easy, just call with your new radio ID and when you hang up go drive to the store, on your way they'll send another activation signal to your radio and about 15-30 sec later you're done with the swap. For the install, I'd assume a good aftermarket model specific wiring harness will do the trick, the dudes at Crutchfield sell pretty close to plug and play harnesses with whatever deck you decide on.

I'm not worried about the transfer fee as much as I am whether or not there is a harness or configuration that allows me to retain the stock tuner and stock antenna - I'm fairly adept with audio so the only way to know may be to just yank the stock stuff out and find out...

I've got a wire that allows you to use the factory antenna if you want. Send me a PM and I'll give you the info on it.

It's one of these:

That's a good start... I can use hte PAC-tato to keep all the JBL features, I'm wondering if my "party mode" button will still work... not that I have EVER used it, or plan to...

I'd also like to figure out if I can integrate the rear backup, surely it's just an analog video signal going to the mirror?

There is a thread that deals with all this for the 5th Gen. Try searching for AVIC or aftermarket stereo and see if it comes up.

Here's the aftermarket stereo thread for 5ths ...Aftermarket StereoTOYO-01 is the harness you need for JBL.
PAC wouldn't work ,had to use AXXESS ASWC to tie in the steering wheel controls. The XM box is under the pass. seat and does not work on aftermarket and they wouldn't transfer the free trial to aftermarket anyways. Of course if your paying I'm sure they would.
