So I took out the sliding tray...

...And as a temp padding solution for my dog, threw a couple blankets back there.

Drive about 20 minutes to the trails, and notice on the way, my dog is panting like he needs to take a dump. Get to the trails, let him out, and he runs straight to the water and nose dives in. Not too different from any other time, except I though HE needed to drop a load. Well, he never does.

Get him packed up for the trip back...Again, panting like a bytch in heat...

Get home, let him out, no poo, this time he runs to the nearest A/C vent and crashes on it like Obama's approval ratings...

Go to take out the temporary blankets and notice they are very warm, like out of the dryer warm. Touch the metal where the carpet/slide out tray was, and it's hot as hell. More hot towards the seats.

It's the radiant heat from the exhaust pipe transferred though the heat shield right into the floor....Wow, I thought, because that is some serious hotness.

Does this sound normal? I know the exhaust gets hot, and that's why the heat shield is there...But damn !! To heat up the floor to a point where you can barely touch it, ridiculous.

Nope. Everything under there gets hot - diff, exhaust, muffler, catalytic converter, etc. Even in SR5's with carpet the carpet even gets warm. Metal with no padding or carpet would get real warm.

Not a cooked dog! lol
It was a "hot dog" . ...where's the mus**** and onions? That's m-u-s-t-a-r-d as mus**** is a bad word on a forum and they block out the ****
How about sauerkraut then!

Back on topic....I had my sliding tray out for a week when I was putting in sound deadener in the back and yep it gets a little hot right above the muffler. Not enough to burn you or anything but it was noticeable as I worked on it a couple of hours a night, on my hands and knees back there, right after driving home from work.
Matter of fact ,I doubled the deadener and insulation on that side right above the muffler. But that was more to try to muffle the sound from my first loud arse Flowmaster Super 44 then the heat!https://picasaweb.google.com/1107645...eningWithEDead

Not too different from any other time, except I though I needed to drop a load. Well, he never does.

Does he usually feel better after YOU drop a load?
