I am in a similar situation (though with an ORP). A quick search on these forums show ppl have had this debate for the past 6 years (and still no 6th gen). For me, other than the potential for slightly improved gas mileage with the 6th gen (but really, who knows), the 5th gen checks all of my boxes. I hope to pick one up as soon as my job resumes in a stable fashion. As many have also said, worst case you sell it in a few years and maybe lose a few thousand dollars as the resale value is so high.

Cool

When it comes to Redesigns of Tacoma and Tundra its Chicago Auto Show for Yota. When it comes to 4 Runner Redesign its the Texas State Fair. Maybe they will change it up for 6th Gen

Gen 6 4runner release..

With the suv market being so crazy, and the gen 5 4runner being kind of long in the tooth, is it fair to expect gen 6 revealed in 2020?

The new blazer RS looks nice.. I want to go look at one in person

I wish the next 4runner to have a little better mpg and maybe less weight IMO. But still have v610.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254 hotmail.com

I'm in the market and feeling similar. Should I wait for 6th gen? Looking to buy now as love the TRD Offroad interior just not the new grille...

Waiting to see what 2021 brings for options and colors...anyone know when the details are typically released?

All I've seen is the special trail edition but I'm not a fan of that particular package they 've put together.

My guess is we will have a confirmed release date and design by summer 2022. Hopefully sooner.

Factory rustproofing would be awesome.
I have a 99 Rover Discovery that is my snow vehicle and had Waxoyl applied from the factory, and the salt isn't kind obviously, but there is minimal rust after 21 years on the chassis.
I only "had" to retouch some areas but that was to satisfy my OCD.
The body panels are aluminum which is nice for certain people.

This is a really interesting thread; I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my expectations for future 4Runners. Being new to the 4Runner world I was surprised by the things I couldn't get with my new T4R. Like auto headlights, electronic hatch, and blind spot detection. Maybe some of the options I wanted were available on the Limited, but I wanted more off-roading capabilities. I'd like to see an engine or transmission change that either improves fuel economy or improves acceleration.

I suppose I'm torn between loving that the T4R is a reliable truck and wanting the luxuries of a modern SUV. I'm sure my feelings will evolve as I get more miles in with my 4Runner.

8-speed transmission, 30-40 ft/lbs more torque, and better stability control for sudden emergency maneuvers. Also, a nicer interior and ventilated front seats with slightly longer seat cushions. I'm not sure if the current 4Rs have ventilated front seats actually. Maybe they do but the Tundras don't and that sort of kills the Tundra for me...among other 2012's basic features it is stuck with.

Interior plastic parts that doesn’t scratch so easy. I look at it crooked ant there is another scratch. Heck my ‘15 Beemer X5 with over 80k looks as good as my one year old 4Runner.
