I guess thats your right, to buy a new car and burn it. I think it looks better than the current trend of protruding out of the dashboard.

-Massaged 3.5L that gets a little more torque and hp.
-Torque-fill in the low RPMs and passing situations via hybrid motor.
-Hybrid battery that can power a small campsite overnight, and has inputs for solar charging and is prewired for LED lights.
-Slightly reduced coefficient of drag via 1" reduction in roof height relative to floor, and smoothing out the frontal area to be somewhere in between the 4th gen (too smooth, carlike) and 5th gen (nice, but peak-angry-Hummer-look).
-more room in the fender wells for 285s, possibly via allowing removal of overfenders for TRD bolt-on overfenders, and more clearance inside the wells.
-1" standard lift, so that combined with the 1" loss in roof height, overall you have a more lifted/higher ground clearance truck that fits int he same size garage door.
-repackaging of KDSS so it's tucked in better and the front skid can be 1-2" higher.
-fixing the belly/front diff skid so it's not the lowest point on the truck.
-8 speed auto.
-make 3rd row standard but removable like minivans.
-more use of plastics, aluminum, and ultra high strength steel to reduce vehicle weight by 200 lbs.

Significant increase in power. 400hp if gas, tons of torque if coal. Better gas mileage from both. It can be done...

I see no reason why I have what? 3 buttons for potential garage door openers that I can guaranty i'll never use rather than factory switches for after market lighting prewired that I would have been using from the first week...

Spoil me. Run connections from those switches I want, to the roof, to the front and to the back. Make it a factory option, don't care, it'll get used. It's expensive enough buying the led lights, it would be nice not having to tear apart my new ride to do what so many of us planned to do the day we said, "Yes, I definitely want the TRD."

Factory optioned winch. If they think it makes sense to have 26-way power seats with ac and heat, they can make this happen..

5.0L V-8/350HP, attractive front end design, selection of suspension( shocks/springs/lift), revised LCA alignment bolt/bushing design, non-rust frame if they stick with body-on-frame, more leg room passenger side and rear, very DIY service friendly.

Better throttle response, like the 4th-gen.

Automatic climate control, like the 4th gen (you had an option of setting the temperature, but adjusting the vents manually - useful for places where it can be 24 degrees at 7am, and 50 degrees by noon, like the north east of the USA)

Keep physical buttons/knobs for audio and climate controls (i.e. don't move them to an LCD panel).

Torsen center differential standard or make in an option for the TRD range (full time 4wd is useful for places like the north east of the USA,where road can be a mix of ice, slush and dry pavement), like the 4th-gen.

Remote Auto-down rear window, like the 4th-gen.

LED, auto-on headlights.

Apple/Android compatible stereo.

Gray/Beige interior color option on the TRD models (because it hides things like mud, sand, dust, and dog hair better)

Better cargo area storage - e.g. side/wheel well nooks with covers, like the 4th-gen.

It will come with half a dozen instagram filters, standard rooftop refugee tent, massive inverter, three battery setup, and oversized alternator for glamping, and a model contracted to appear half nude in said tent during "overlanding" photo shoots.

GPS will also be pre-programmed to find "remote" places that are actually within a quarter mile of major roads. Paint will be a special compound designed to resist scratching and dirt accumulation to look pristine during photo shoots. Body will have SIX dedicated GoPro mounts.

Change it?

Seeing that they sold more 4R last year than anytime in their history I say change nothing. I know the dealers have voiced strong opposition to any major re-do. Ya I guess it could use a little more power, but I don't consider it under powered. And as much as you all complain about the 3.5 in the Taco I don't want to be blasted with constant complaints. I know it's selfish, but the fact they haven't changed it has saved me a ton of money. My 2011 is 98% the same as the 2019. It even has real leather interior, not the "Pleather i.e. Vinyl" they put in now.

How bout motorized tailgate, most have height limits that can be set.

And locking gas flap.

And retractable mirrors.

And full length roof rails, from front to back. Not super high. Gives more options for crossbars etc.

There are 2 thing I would love to change:
1) Interior - toyota used to have an awful interior design, comparing to other manufactures
2) exterior - I want it to me more slick and stylish. I know that it is not an everyday car for a majority of people, but I want to use it on a daily basis.
Check what was done by ford:

This is a new 2019 ford expedition, and it is gorgeous. In this review from John Dean, he mentioned that it might be a real competitor on Toyota's marketplace.

2020 technology as opposed to 2009 tech.

V8 power, modern transmission, manual gearbox option, quality rubber trim \ seals, spin off oil filter.

More masculine car horn instead of the gay sounding horns on Toyota vehicles in general.

Interesting, do you own a 4Runner? Maybe the next Limited can embrace some of this, but IMHO "slick and stylish" is not a direction I would prefer for
4Runner. This is not what it has ever intended to be, there are far too many other options if one is seeking that. There is nothing off-road about that thing posted IMO.
