How about something that really matters; bigger wheel wells. I can stuff a 35x12.5 in my FJC with a BMC and caster correction. Try that on a 4Runner. Every offroader on this forum should be echoing bigger wheel wells and front locker. All the fancy fufu crap will be added obviously without a public outcry.

TRD offroad should be a wrangler Rubicon competitor. Diff locks front and rear, 33s stock and easily upgradable to 35s with minimum fuss. Locking diffs should be optional on SR5 and limited trims just like the 3rd gens. Plastic floors should be an option on TRD and SR5. More suspension travel! Give me all those in my next 4Runner and make just one 6mt for me. Thanks.

I think they meant to say "TRD in the punch bowl."

All I want is a decontented BOF 4Runner with a base neoprene interior, rubberized floors (no carpet), no KDSS, room on the frame and wheel wells for a huge lift and tires, selectable 4WD, lockers, and not much else.

Don't need a huge engine.

Keep the price under 35k.

Africa or Australia will have a vehicle that meets your requirement today! 'Murica is gonna get something to maximize Toyota's profit and be crammed with electronics we old-timers aren't interested in. I'm still bitter about them not giving us a chance to buy the Land Cruiser 70 anniversary edition they made available in Japan.

I actually owned a 76 wagon when I lived in Oz.

I wish I could bring a NEW one over here.

Too many sales for the soccer moms and offroad wanna be dads.

Bring back the FJ with basics.

Agree, I would love a back to basics 4x4 like an FJ or like my old Early Bronco but with all the ridiculous safety regulations today and most consumers wanting a comfy SUV that will never be taken off-road the future of the 4Runner will probably be something close to a beefed up Highlander. I hope I am wrong and they keep it a body on frame and add a front locker, keep electronics to a minimum, no safety sense, and add some power but keep it a simple reliable drivetrain. But Toyota is already heading in the wrong direction (in my opinion) having added a lot of unnecessary features to the 2019/2020 models, driven by consumer demands to add costly infotainment systems, safety sense, better fuel economy, add more conveniences rather than add robustness and off-road capability.

A decontented 4Runner with an FJC price point would be a good seller for people who don't want a Tacoma, think a 4Runner is overpriced, and hate Wranglers.

anyone think there's a chance for a hybrid version? Honest question, not trolling.
