Anyone know what the other engine options are for the new tundra? Looks like Toyota is keeping the 3.5l v6 and beefing it up like it should be. But I wonder if there will be a non turbo non hybrid version. Having both of those, and I know “modern tech and advancements etc,” seems like a lot of potential failure points.

Just those two options. 3.44 litre twin turbo then the hybrid version of same. The land cruiser is getting this engine. I wonder if the majority of land cruisers will be sold with a different engine. Diesel perhaps. Land cruiser has an amazing reliability rating. I can’t see this twin turbo design going a million kms.

I would like it to be a bit narrower. Today´s vehicles are growing too much. 4Runner are not a luxury car with tons of space, they are PRACTICAL!!!

Having owned two 5th gens, one supercharged and one not, and selling the latest one for a....ahem...tesla because i commute 110mi/day i'd like to see the following.
- TT V6 w/ Hybrid like what we see in the new Tundra, at least similar.
- >500mi range w/ peak mpg at ~75mph (speed limits here in Idaho are 80, i was only getting 12mpg on my last 4R at that speed)
- option for Recaro seats, the 5th gen seats SUCK!!
- Here's a fun one leaning to the tuner crowd, the option to swap a 6th gen powertrain into a 5th gen, especially if its more powerful and with better range.
- A steering wheel that's centered on the driver, not shifted left to create the illusion of more space.
- a HUD that also displays roll and incline.
- 7500+ towing.
- Preinstalled accessory switches.
- a TRD exhaust that doesnt DROOOOOONE..... i swear that also precipitated my selling the last one.
Just a few thoughts...

I know it's never going to happen, but a v8 model would be neat. Always thought V8 motors suited the 4runner.

What would you like to see in a 6th gen?
I wished ( I get the business case, it’s about what sells, not what’s ideal but a guy can dream….) they made a genuine off-roader dimensionally similar to a 3rd gen like said above. Package protected for 35” tires and tire chains right out of the box. Protection for rear departure like a commander underneath. Disconnect sway bars like a bronco or rubicon. Lockers front and rear like a bronco. Solid axle would be nice, but won’t happen. Given the wrangler sales though, I think a good case can be made for this rig. Bonus if they model it after a can am and make it like a factory long arm if IFS.
Power in the 320-350hp range. Pump gas premium, Rear swing tire mount like a surf. Keep the lift gate. Fatty gas tank. 10 speed auto, but the first two or three are grannie lows only used in 4 low or off-road modes. Get the crawl ratio somewhere between 80-100:1 and it would be sorta like having a 3 speed T case. World class bilstein suspension and control it with TRX style shocks/electronics, totally solves the jounce stop issue. Weight around 3-3500 lbs would be awesome. I know everyone wants to tow a gajillion lbs, but what’s the point? Keep the tow number to 5k or less. Reality is people use trucks to tow, not suvs. Honestly, I think they should model it more toward the wrangler use case. I think they’ll sell way more. Or keep their 5th gen size as one model, and make a smaller 3rd gen sized special edition and call it the Pro Runner or something.
I’m tired of how bloated modern vehicles are. Good hell they are wide and heavy. Take the rav4 type shell and give it a frame for all I care. I know the mall crawler and Dutch bros coffee crowd want 10 feet of room in the cab just to put an 8 foot wide center console to swallow it up like a ford superduty, but I want a 64”-66” at the cab width rally deluxe machine with 450-500 miles of range off-road.
I’d love to modernize from my 3rd gen, but what I want doesn’t exist. I have a super hard time getting excited about a 5-6k lb vehicle. People will buy fun vehicles. Bronco and Wrangler prove that. Bronco is going to be a grocery getter, it’s roomy and all, but it still has the fun under pinnings. It’s about time that Toyota take the fun vehicle idea to the next level.
Off-roader rally deluxe, 330hp, 3rd gen dimensions, all the suspensions,,,,,,,, profit…..

Agree on this and the third gen dimensions. They can easily do a regular 4runner and then a TRD like the new bronco badlands edition. Was looking at the new bronco and they have a Sasquatch lift with 35 tires factory.
The bronco has 7 trims so 4runner can do 3. Sr5, limited for people that want all the luxury and off road version. It’s doable.

P.s. hybrid, or electric should be an option. A hybrid 4runner would be great.

Most of all, I'd like to see better approach/departure angles. The 5th gen is such a capable vehicle. It's biggest flaw (in my opinion) is the shallow angles. If the angles on the bumpers were redesigned I feel like the vehicle would be much more off-road capable

Optional solid front axle or optional long travel suspension setup. Come on! For the price brand new make it capable without having to upgrade the basics!.

Definitely why I had to tear the old crap off and build my own! You have to tear half the truck off to utilize the amazing 4wd.
