Just picked up a 2019 Limited on Thursday and first thing I did was to install the Alpine Halo 9 iLX-F309FRN. MUCH better than the Entune JBL headunit.

Carplay is a must for me and the added features of this headunit was a no brainer.

I was looking at getting the Alpine Halo for my Limited as well. I was curious, does the bottom of the display get in the way or block the view of the digital climate temp display?

Not at all. A small amount of air from the vents is blocked from the top of the display but it's not an issue.

Question: Where did you put the Alpine microphone? - I want to do this, but I want it to look factory and neat and clean. Do you mind posting a wider angle shot?

-thanks-

Why not use the "Hey siri" on your phone. It does the same things other than play what she is saying through the speakers. My phone is mounted on the dash most of the time. It would be nice to have but seems like a waste of money to upgrade the radio if you ask me

I followed this video for the install and saw that they put the mic in the overhead console. Really does well at picking up my voice even with the windows down at a reasonable speed. The radio looks factory, really nice fit and finish.

Just bought a 2016 SR5 Premium and my wife drives a 2018 VW Tiguan. I love the Apple Car Play in it and I miss it dearly in the 4Runner. I like it just for Spotify on the screen with all of my playlists and the browse feature.

The Alpine is sharp. Pricey, but it would be worth it to me. I use it all the time in my current vehicle. I’m trying to decide if I want to wait until Toyota adds it or just go with aftermarket and buy now.

Meek One 07-02-2019 07:11 PM

How’s the sound quality with the Alpine? I assume it’s better than factory?

You'd think it would be relatively simple to install but hey what do I know? I wish they would

New 8 inch screen and new instrument cluster shown in this video (starts at 7:00min):

And of course it's still 5th GENERATION!

that's cool, the big question is will it swap easily to prior year models??

also noticed the gauge cluster is quite a bit different.

This. Subscribed. Hopefully it’s plug and play with just the addition of a new trim piece.

Also curious if the gauge cluster could be swapped. I just picked up a 19 because I’m weird and I love having a key and hate driver aids.... but could use some new tech to make the experience that much better while maintaining simplistic mechanicals.

I'm with you on this one. I am hopeful that the 2020 unit is just plug and play. I really want Apple CarPlay but I don't want to go aftermarket. It'd be nice to get the update cluster but I think its asking to much at this point.
