Educated Guess (on Video) on when Gen 6 is due

I like this guy (and his truck!). Based on the many posts I have read on this forum and others I have to agree with his guess on when Gen 6 will hit US Dealers. Spoiler: not imminent.

Without watching the video, I'm guessing the 2023 6th gen will hit dealer lots Sept-Oct, 2022.

I haven't gotten a definitive sales count for NA or the US YoY for the last few years, but it appears Toyota continues to sell more 4Runners YoY, despite the aging (albeit extremely capable and attractive!) platform.

Toyota 4Runner US car sales figures

Pulled from above link, sales for US.
Toyota
4Runner
2018 139.694
2017 128.296
2016 111.952
2015 97.034
2014 76.906
2013 51.625
2012 48.753
2011 44.316
2010 46.531

I would imagine the Ford Bronco will impact take a bite out of this as I'm sure it will have a great suite of tech and even more nostalgia. That may force a next gen vehicle.

My wife and I were holding out for the first 4runner model year that had Car Play etc. We brought home out first 4Runner (2020 TRD Off Road Premium) on Friday night, and couldn't be happier. We both grew up with a Land Cruiser in our garage and love the feeling we get when climbing up into this tank.

Amen! I'm a mod at another forum and these bots drive me crazy. They are seemingly harmless members but mostly have responses that make no sense. Not every thread they make has a link to online gaming/betting/whatever, but some of them do. It's maddening. I'm sure they are doing (t4r.org mods) their best.

New Model will be out by Sept 2020 at the latest.

2 different 4Runner models (at least), one will have a removable top like 1st gen.

They will be 2021 models. This has been discussed at extensively here and people just need to go through the posts. This is legit info.

Not going to happen - Toyota would not have updated the current generation with safety sense and new screen (Apple car play etc) for only one model year.

I am still sticking with 6th generation gets released in 2022 as a 2023 model with makes the current updates a three year run.
Toyota is probably adding LED headlights next year for the 2021 models.

I notice in Canada you can no longer get the non-Premium model on the SR5 and the Limited no longer comes without 3rd row for the 2020 model year either.

I also notice the ‘20 Tundra offers fewer trim options (Limited not available).

Sequoia is a dinosaur anyway.

Change a comin’?

I think we always have fewer trim options. I assume because we have 1/10th the population.

I would say yes but the base SR5 used to be the non-premium model I.e cloth seats and you could always get a 5-seater 4Runner in the Premium and Limited Trims. That’s no longer the case.

It just seems like even fewer options are available.

2022 is right. No official statement yet but leaked info is legit.

Well i was looking into buying a 4runner since last year, and when i found out about the infotainment update i waited for the 2020.
Anyways i looked into them, and we have fewer options in canada, and all the options we get are the premium options.
For instance we dont have 2WD models only, and we get the trd offroad premium by default.

Also on a side note... i was looking at the reviews online for the VENTURE edition all in the states.... and i noticed that both the off-road and venture editions come with single climate control... whereas when i sat in two different venture editions (white and magnetic grey) they both had dual climate control as default.. and my TRD OFF road ALSO has dual climate control...
The youtuber guy jeff something that sells 4RUNNERS, he reviewed several 4runner premium models and they all had single climate control, whereas all the dealers i went to.. they had dual climate standard... so hurray for us canadians.
