Sweet! Congratulations when you get it!

The last vehicle I ordered (and the only one) was a blue 1984 Celica GTS Coupe. The sales guy was great - he called me each time an event occurred. It's on the boat, it landed at San Fran (I think?), it's on the train to Ohio, etc. It was fun but also took maybe 4-6 weeks. It was a wonderful car!

Not sure why any previous owner of a 4 runner would buy a piece of crap Jeep product. I was on a tough trail in the can am max r and i literally watched 2 of the worst 4 wd drives ever made break over 10 miles from anywhere. A rzr broke his rear frame and a arm. A 4 door jeep broke his axle. My Jeep friends and rzr friends are always repairing their vehicles after trail rides. Damn my buddy has a 2 wheel drive wrangler and blew his motor at 120k miles. Jeep hasn't made a well made product in 20 years. Now that Fiat owns them they will NEVER make a well made vehicle again. Please do yourself a massive favor and look at how poor the reviews are on all Jeep products on JD powers and consumer reports. Ask any jeep owner how their vehicle has performed at the 150k mark? Wait i bet you can't find many that are running at the 150 or 200 k mark

I test drove the JL and Gladiator when I started looking for a new vehicle. I currently have a '97 TJ 4 cylinder and a Frontier P4X. The new Jeeps drove like 10 year old vehicles, while the 3-5 year old 4Runners I have been testing still drive like new. You could get a used Jeep for a toy AND a pretty well equipped Tacoma/Frontier/Ranger for the same price as the Glad and have a much more reliable DD.

We have a 2020 TRD Pro and a 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited Hemi with 94K maintained to a T. The Jeep is great looking, well built, and rides very nicely (based on Mercedes ML from the Daimler days). We went with the Hemi over the Pentastar for better reliability since the latter was new that year. Here is a list of issues our Jeep has had:

A gasket went bad within first year causing it to burn oil if parked on an angle - fixed under warranty

Water pump exploded at 35K - fixed under warranty

TIPM fuel pump relay recall done around 2014-2015, due to intermittent failure and stalling. Instead of replacing entire TIPM like they should have, FCA installed an external fuel pump relay, which started to fail late this year again. I convinced the dealer their recall did not work, so they performed it again. Apparently, enough people had issues, so FCA issued a letter to owners stating the above recall needs a new recall, and they do not have a permanent solution yet...

Leather seat bottom on driver's side started cracking a lot within last couple of years despite lotioning it and the Jeep going from my garage to a parking garage, so it is rarely parked outside.

Motor mount recently leaked all its fluid out (yes, it had fluid in it), but so far, no harsh vibrations or clunks yet, so we have not replaced them.

We still love the vehicle, and the platform is great. It's just the FCA components of it seem to suck. We were ready to go with a Wrangler Rubicon until that TIPM stuff started again on the Grand Cherokee, so we pivoted and got the TRD Pro. We made the right call I'd say...

l say you made the right choice for sure. My 08 4th gen 4 runner now has 278 miles and other than suspension parts and finally a head gasket issue at 270 000 miles that is all the issues it has had. The 96 3rd gen has even fewer concerns at 319,000 miles. It finally needed a head gasket replacement at 316,000 miles.

Our H3 is about to hit 304K, and the 5.3L V8 is still chugging along well. For as much as I complain about GM, they know how to build an engine.

Got rid of my h2 back in 07 because I couldn't take the 8 mpg or worst.

You’re asking a 4runner page whether you should get a 4Runner or a shitty Jeep-Fiat.

True, but the answer is no less valid.

AVOID FCA PRODUCTS!!!

I may want to love them, but I just can't. I'd love another Jeep because I dearly loved my 2009 Liberty despite its problems, but never again. Maybe by the time my 4Runner goes to the great junkyard in the sky FCA will finally have their quality sorted out and I can get a Wrangler again (I used to own one before the Liberty), but Chrysler never really did have great quality, even decades ago. Anything FCA is at the very least a stealth luxury item and at most is a genuine luxury item, and they last like luxury items last: they don't last.
