Could you explain what you meant by this? Thanks.
- sorry - not on the forum enough! Ford had multiple delays and stoppages... not just due to "normal" supply constraints. I think at the time I was referring to the MIC top that was "recalled" before it ever really hit stride in production - sending thousands of Broncos to "Dirt Mountain" to wait on MIC 2.0.

MIC 2.0 has turned out to be only marginally better than 1.0, and the 2.7 engines for '21 have a seemingly high rate of dropping lifters - even when only a couple of weeks old. - some strange stuff.

I LOVED how the bronco looked and drove, and judging from some real-world crash reports from owners, they seem to do a fantastic job of protecting the occupants. If they get to a mid-gen update, I may revisit.

It has. I bought ford stock when it was about $6 when I saw the bronco details. (I also bought Boeing and Alibaba at the same time - and pretty well got killed on those, so it's probably a wash. lol. Day trading is just like the lottery - a tax on mathematically uninclined over the long run so I avoid it.) I thought - Ford is actually building cool shit people want and stock is low, I'll buy some. It's done a lot better than Toyota stock since then. But I think long term Toyota is still a much better buy. My guess is Ford will struggle when interest rates go up and the glut of inventory in used cars starts finally flooding back into the market in the next year or two.

But I still think the Maverick, Lightning, and Bronco are all homerun efforts from Ford. If they keep that kind of innovation and new product development going - well I still won't buy one most likely - but I'm still impressed.

I wish Toyota would do something even moderately interesting.

The most interesting thing about this thread is Ford stock!! Yes, they are doing well. I think GM will be one to ride on in 2022 too.

Toyota’s stock also hit a 52-week high recently, and is still trading around there.

Stock traders are typically thinking future growth, and it seems most of that optimism is around electrification of their lineups.

Yeah but their stock is up maybe 25% versus Ford that has doubled. 2022 will be an interesting one. I am thinking it will be a good one for auto manufacturers and resellers like Caravana, unless the manufacturers themselves start to become resellers.

actually the 4runner is made in the tahara plant only.

the hi-lux is made in the hino plant

edit: guess i was wrong, hi-lux hasnt been made at the hino plant since 2005, it completely moved production outside of japan.

the prado is still made along side the 4runner in the tahara plant

Toyotas in Japan

I see a lot of Prados / Hilux here. I can check out the local dealership here and ask about a 4Runner in Japan.
