That makes sense.

I've heard rumors/speculation that the Gen 6 4Runner will be tasked with (partially) filling the shoes of the now-defunct North American Land Cruiser.

Is there any merit to this?

I doubt it. That would be the job of the Lexus LX and maybe the upper trims of the Sequoia.

That seems to be the job of the LX600. Granted, they’re all sharing the same TNGA-F platform so the next 4Runners relation to the Land Cruiser is probably more than any previous generation from that standpoint. They’ve always been on a similar platform though.

The only way Toyota could justify a massive price increase is if they pair it with a massive feature set and performance increase, in which case they would be knowingly shifting their target market.

There will be a 15% or so price hike whether there's a 15% improvement or not. It's a guarantee.

The Tundra only went up $2000 on a TRD off-road. That's a full redesign. Depends on the trim but 5% max IMO. I can see the hybrid option being 10-15% though.

I am using the Sequoia as a baseline rather than the Tundra. The bigger SUV was about 15% with the redesign. If the increase is only 5%, I'd be pleasantly shocked. The tech Toyota is probably going to add will be a 5% upcharge all by itself.

We're all going to find out soon enough.

I wonder if it was because the Sequoia went from gas only to hybrid only?

I don't know. Maybe? Personally, I think Toyota used the redesign to position the Seqioua to appeal to a higher end clientele. A $60K base model requires a pretty decent income level and a $70+ PRO and Capstone is nearing 2021 Land Cruiser cost.

Also, with the Tundra, the higher trim levels went through the roof. The Platinum jumped from 51 to 59, 1794 from 51 to 60 and the (now) hybrid only PRO from 50 to 69!

Maybe the SR5s and Off-Road 4Runner has a modest increase but the Limited and PRO should get the Tundra and Sequoia price jumps. The new Capstone trim will be around 60. The question is how will Toyota price the Sport and ORP and which trims will get the hybrid?

We are in the market for a new SUV or crewcab, I'm trying to hold off the next gen 4runner before making a decision.

Sequoia is priced tad high for the base compared to other full size SUVs, I'd go for a limited at least. Better value would be tahoe or yukon at this price point

Tundra ; we are considering the pro at msrp basically 66-70K range pending on dealer. Its at least 6 months out to order, but it'll have the needs/wants in a truck I'd like to have.

I am also waiting for 6th gen. Was waiting for the new bronco but realized don’t need to take off roof and doors, but love roll down rear window on 4 runner. Though that two door bronco is great if I wanted smaller.

I'm not sure there is a concensus that the roll down rear window will be retained on the 6th gen 4Runner. Toyota got rid of it on the Tundra to everyone's dismay.

It’s still on the Tundra but not the new Sequoia
