2022 Land Cruiser vs 6th Gen 4Runner vs 3rd Gen Lexus GX

I'm sure you're all aware that the updated 2022 Land Cruiser (J300) has been released to the world. Unfortunately it won't come to the US, but perhaps a close look will give us some clues as to what's coming to the next gen 4Runner and GX (which is due for a refresh as well).

Anyone care to speculate how much of it will come to the new 4Runner or GX? Obviously the more luxurious options will come to the GX. I'm guessing the two engine options will carry over to both the 4Runner and GX, but who knows. The new multi-terrain select has more options than our 4Runners do, perhaps that will appear on the 6th gen. The terrain monitoring option might only appear on the higher trim levels.

The highest trim level of the 4.0 V6 has triple lockers, I wonder what trim levels in the US might get this feature?

You can do a Google search for the 2022 Land Cruiser and find lots of articles. Here are a couple links.

From Toyota in the UAE:

um you do realize nothing from the LC will come down to the 4runner or the GX. the new LX600 is the exact same vehicle as the 2022 LC.

I highly doubt the TTV6 will come to the 4Runner.

Well, sure, the LX will more closely match the LC, but don't you think some of it will trickle down? Like the 4Runner and GX might get the lessor of the two engine options.

4runner wont get any engine option of the gx, it steal sales from the GX, hence the reason the v8 in 4runner was dropped since the gx was just a glorified 4runner with the same engine.

The land cruiser has a new e-kdss system, I can see that flowing down to the 4runner.

Not the reason. Regardless, the GX and 4R cater to completely different markets and outside a few geeks most don’t even know they are related.

Even if Lexus goes ahead with the GXOR concept it would still be for a different type of customers.

From an engine perspective, I'd be more curious to see what the Tacoma gets. That would probably be more of a logical choice for insight into the 4Runner's future.

I hope the new 4runner looks nothing like the next Lexus LX, it resembles the latest large Kia or Hyundai SUV. Sorry I know that's a negative attitude. I'm just so hopeful that Toyota knocks it out of the park with the new 4runner. Factory dip the frame Toyota!
