This, ventilated seats, and full time 4WD are the reasons we got a 17 Limited.

I have been debating moving up to a GX for a little more towing power. I agree having to use Premium isn't ideal, but I spend about $3000 in gas a year. What's premium...20% more? So it's only $600 more a year. I can handle that for a nicer, smoother, stronger engine.

That's how I look at it as well. Towing with my 4R even at 2500-3000lbs is laughable in the hills. The 285s I just put on don't help, but I'd call it fairly laughable on stock tires. That GX460 V8 is so so nice and it's a much nicer car overall with still rock solid reliability. Makes up for the extra bit in gas if you do choose to run the recommended premium. There is a lot of reading you can do on the subject of premium vs. regular in those, however.

You can almost always find a set of OR wheels someone has taken off their rig for dirt cheap, browse this site for offers. I've actually bought 2 sets, one set rims only for $400 (I think) and another set with tires for either $600 or $800. (You can't buy tires for less than $800...)

I don't doubt it, assuming you are referring to a set of 5 and not 4.

I guess we are different. Part of the MSRP of the rig are those 20 inch rims and tires. For me, it's not just how much it costs to change out the 20s for 17s but also how much I spent on rims and tires that will never be used, will collect dust in my garage and will be difficult to get rid of.

I really thought about the Limited - two row version with replacement tires/rims. I just couldn't justify the extra cost for my budget.

I rode my 20"s for ~35k miles before I swapped them for 17"s. I lated sold 4 of my 20"s to a local buyer for probably $400 who put them on his 3rd gen 4R. (I had my spare stolen.)

I bought a set of 4x 17" OR from a guy who had the dealer add on Pro wheels, and later bought a set of 4x 17" OR + the stock Dunlops from a guy who bought aftermarket wheels.

So now, I have have a set of 5 17" OR wheels, which I prefer (plus I like the looks), and made a net gain on the transaction since I bought a set of wheels + unused tires (which saved me from buying new tires when 2nd set wore out). I also have 3 extra wheels laying around that I keep telling my wife I am selling, so she'd say she's lost on this deal, but she doesn't read this forum.

YMMV, I'm just saying there are particularly *easy* work arounds if you don't like the 20" wheels. What worked for me was very much cheaper than the Black Rhino wheels I was craving, and I really like the look of these OR wheels. And I actually love the 20" wheels, but took them off road and either got stuck (running HT) or got bounced and decided I needed a different approach.

Well, I am slightly jealous. I think if I were buying a couple of years ago when dealerships would negotiate on price, I would have gone the Limited route. At full MSRP, I couldn't afford the $50K. It took me months of mental gymnastics to talk myself into spending $45K on the ORP.

I wanted an OR with KDSS myself, but these aren't sold in my region and I needed a 3rd row. Maybe we can swap later after my kids are grown, but I suspect both of us will end up happy with what we've got. IMO, those who are unhappy with the 4R want a different style entirely and aren't quibbling over specifics.

At this point my only question is whether I will hand this of to one of my kids or aim for 300,000 miles myself. I'm almost at 140,000 now (2016).
