New Land Cruise but still not 4Runner - WTF Toyota!
I am a bit frustrated with Toyota, we have seen redesigns for a lot of their vehicles in '22, '23, and now '24 but still nothing with the 4Runner. I really like the LC, but I would never shell out that much $$ for one, why don't they focus on where they make more sales, the 4R? I feel like we have been waiting for a long time and at this rate I don't think one will come out until '25 at the earliest!

I have a feeling that we won't like their redesigns in '25.

There's a 73 page thread on this very forum that has been explaining this for over a year. Since it was known that a LC was coming, it has always been known that it would be released first.
For Toyota it makes sense to release their highest selling and highest margin vehicles first. Hence the order has been Tacoma > GX > LC > 4R

I wonder if they do a LC Prado and it replaces the 4Runner. The 4Runner is pretty much North America only and would make sense to just expand the Prado line up, but who knows.

Wouldn't make sense to kill off a brand name that is still selling ~100K vehicles a year though after 20+ years in the US market. If the 4Runner was a niche vehicle with low sales, sure, but doesn't make sense for Toyota since brand equity and value is critical to preserve.

For the full story on the new 2025 6th gen 4Runner, many details, dates, engines and questions , such as, Are they going to kill off the 4Runner? Why have so many models? EVERYTHING is covered in this thread.
Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen
The title has been wrong for a long time, it's 2025 now.
Please make all further replies in that thread link.

This. We may like the 4Runner, but it's ancient stuff. The Tacoma outsells it at least 2-to-1. Makes sense that new Tacoma got out the door first (Tacoma is also in a more competitive segment). Toyota has had a long time, so hopefully new 4Runner knocks it out of the park.

Just purchased a TRD Sport because I suspect the new and improved 4runner will be powered much like the new Tacoma is. 4 cylinder turbo. I'm a long term owner and don't want a turbo. Thank the EPA.

I like to call it a the parts bin special trim introduced for 2022MY. It uses the wheels from the 2010-2013 MY limited, has the front of a 2014+ limited but with the chrome color matched, a non functional hood scoop, XREAS and a few other changes. TRD Sport

Gross. Why would anyone buy that? Its everything that people try to take off their Limited and make fun of about the TRD.

Tacoma, sure....LC, no way. I'm sure there is a significant margin to be made on the LC's based on their price but I can count on one had the amount I have seen driving around me the last year. Every time I get in my 4R for a drive, does not matter how short, I am guaranteed to pass one or more other 4R's on the road.
The profit margin on the LC can't possibly make up for the sheer volume of 4R's sold and their combined profit.
I live in a very affluent area and see a lot of expensive vehicles, if someone is going to pay 90k+ for a vehicle is will NOT be a 'Toyota'.
People don't seem to have an issue dropping that for a loaded Tahoe or Yukon (that will fall apart much quicker), but they just don't seem to want to do it for a LC, especially when the other vehicles are larger and more functional. The rest just pick a Benz or BMW X5.
The LC is a tough sell (IMO) with a 90k price tag and a Toyota name.

an aussie mag has said that there's a rumor that the next LC will be a rebadged Prado. very much like in the UK.
