I guess I got this thread off topic with my rant on large engines. As we all can see in most cases they won't be back and are pretty much gone forever. Now for some that will be a loss in their love of the automobile, but for many it will be what they wanted all along. So, for those who missed out on the past fun of driving these powerful machines all I can say is, it was a great time to live.

What % below MSRP will you try to negotiate when buying new 6th gen 4Runner?

Looking at prices, if dealer adds anything onto the top models, by the time tax and all that is included, probably going to be $75k. Ack

I have a '16 TRD-P w/133k and was eagerly awaiting the new 6th gen. I signed up for the email/text alerts and when I got the text couple of weeks ago, I sat down and configured a new one. It totaled out just a touch over $70k...uugh. I understand it wouldn't be the $41K I paid for the '16 when new, but man almost $30K more in just under ten years!?
Either way, I'm gonna sit on the sidelines for one more year. I'm not enthused about the hybrid thing for the TRD-P, which means you lose the rear cargo slide out tray - which I use quite a bit. Plus I want to see how the engine reviews come back on the hybrid, and if they change up the fender flares on the TRD-P from glossy black to something different.

Negotiating prices at this time is pretty much a joke on a 2025 4-Runner. If you want a Toyota then the only prices that are negotiable are on Tundra's and Tacoma's, everything else on new Toyota's is pretty much get in line at the dealer and we will call you when it comes in. I was at the Lexus dealer for service on my wife's Lexus yesterday and I wanted to look at the TX 350 and the GX 500 and they had one of each, about 10 total new models to buy on the lot. If you want a good deal on a new vehicle I wouldn't be looking for a Toyota product and probably long into the future.

Invoice Price Web Sites

The websites like KBB and Edmunds used to list invoice prices and I relied on those to negotiate new cars deals. They dont have them for any of the vehicles I was interested in. It would be nice to find those numbers again.

I bought our 2020 4Runner SR5-P at dealer cost +$500 in MA when we were living in NJ.

The 2025's will probably be at sticker for awhile.

Call a dealer ask for the "internet sales manager" and start at -10% off sticker and see how it goes. Know exactly what you want the the sticker cost. If they are a dick tell them to eat shit and go to the next place.

I think at those prices I can rebuild my KDSS system when/ if it ever goes and put a new drivers seat in when it wears out And put a heated steering wheel on.

I buy my vehicles on resale values, not so much on what the vehicle cost when new. This can be a crap shoot, but I have always found buying Toyota products and Honda products your return money will be much better than say many other vehicles from other manufactures. Since this is the 4-Runner Forum and these vehicles are one of the top resale vehicles in the market today and probably will hold their value in the future, paying more maybe looked at as not a bad thing. I do realize for those who finance their vehicles that any increase in price can defiantly affect what they pay for a vehicle and in many cases it puts them not being able to buy the vehicle they once could. I personally don't see prices coming down, as once they go up it's almost impossible to bring them back to what they were. Only thing you can hope for is the U S economy to get better and wages will go up, I guess we will see how it goes in the future.

The Costco Auto Purchase program usually has the invoice price. However, "invoice" really doesn't mean anything anymore because the actual dealer cost is below that invoice.

I shop at Costco all the time, but as far as buying a vehicle there, no way. I think for the person who just can't handle the dealership experience it could work for them, that is the unknowing person who wants a new vehicle but can't deal with all the different things car dealers throw at you in the buying process. If you just want a vehicle that dealers have several in stock, you can probably get one of those for possibly some savings, but I feel you could get the same deal at the dealership and possibly even less money than Costco could get for you. Remember Costco is going to get something for selling this vehicle to you and you will be paying for the privilege of buying at Costco. Now for those who want new vehicles that are in big demand and dealerships can sell all they can get, you are not going to be able to get one of these models anytime soon, or even at all. Take the new 2025 4-Runner, which is still not really hit the dealerships lots yet, I would say it might not ever be available on the Costco buying plan, as many vehicles are not. I notice my Costco in Ft. Worth, Texas has not had any new vehicles on display for the last 6 months that I can remember, don't know if it's just that location, or the buying plan is not pushed like it was.

You have it all wrong. You don't buy your car at Costco, rather you buy at your dealer. The dealer gives you a discount for being a Costco member.

I got a $2000 Costco discount when I bought my 4Runner. You know a way to get a better discount? If so, please share it.

You can buy new Hyundai cars directly on Amazon now.

Bezos' empire gets a little bigger. Have to wonder if other companies will follow.
