I purchased a new 2024 TRD Off Road 4-Runner just for the past performance, quality, and resale value of the Gen 5 models. The Gen 6 had not hit the market at that time and I did recognize that it would be somewhat built like the new Tacoma in its first year of production and there have been a few things to workout with the new model. The way I see it, there is no way the Gen 5 models can lose much in value because the Gen 6 will be a much better buy, as you can see today's Gen 5 values are high. I also see the Gen 5 models to follow somewhat in the footsteps of the FJ Cruiser and we all know where their values are today. I have no idea on what I will do in the future, I drive my vehicles some 5-6 thousand miles per year and usually keep then for 5 years, so I think I'm in very good shape for both resale and value. My personal feeling on comparing the two models will be personal and not so much is one that much better than the other.
