Well been doing a timing belt job on a Lexus IS300 for a buddy. He had taken to to some guy and he jack this thing up well about 50 miles later this is what they had.
As you can see the belt was walking on the pulleys.
Her e is a few more pics
New belt is stalled I turned it all by hand and she is smooth
I took out the tensioner to compress it down and I when I took it out I found this
The old dust cap that was installed with the new tensioner and dust cap we I looked the tensioner before I took it out I could see a small gaps but did not think much about it till I drop the tensioner and pulled the old dust cap out and bam it hit me all this work over a dang dust cap. Cost of new belt 45 bucks for Lexus cost of new cover from Lexus 75 bucks plus about 3 hours of my time but it all good.
He is a pic of the old 3rd cover
I think is job was Easier to do then my 4runner.
The new cover should be here tomorrow and we should be good to go. The new belt is on nice and tight like it should be and who ever said you can't used a c clamp to compress the tensioner new used and huge ass one. Lol took me two seconds to compress that thing. Everything else the guy did on this thing looks good he did the water pump as well the car is only at 90k so they did not do the seals they are not leaking so I think they will be good for 90k more. This is a sweet little car I wish I had one but I have to many toys right now anyways....
