Here's a few pics from the ad, that's all I have right now.

Thanks!

I was beginning to wonder if you had bought one since this post has been dormant for a bit. It looks like a really nice 80 I have to admit I am a bit jealous! I have looked at a few 80's so far as well but I just bought a rear bumper for the Runner so the hunt for a cruiser is on hold for a bit. I did test drive a 100 and I might have to reconsider my previous statement. Any way thanks for sharing and keep us posted on your build I look forward to seeing its progress.

Man I am fired up about finding this 80 but it's driving me crazy not getting to drive it. I have to get the axles serviced before I drive it, it's slinging too much grease out. I have a friend who has been a service tech at the local Toyota dealer for 30 years and he's going to do the work at his home garage for me so I can save a few bucks. He's going to do the birfs and go through it and make sure everything is in good road condition.

This is the part I still can't believe, I got this 80 for $1500...........not $15,000, $1,500.00. I'm still in disbelief that I got it for that. The guy had it on craigslist for $5500 but after finding out the axles needed serviced he called me and said he would take $2500. I had called him prior to that and was going to look at it when I thought it was $5500. He told me on the phone he was hearing something in the passenger side front and he was taking it to the dealer and have them look at it. He called me back and told me about the birfs needing new seals and said he would go to $2500. He was 160 miles from me and he said he would hold it till I got there the next day. When I got there I took for a short drive just to make sure everything else was good. I tried the lockers out and the front engaged fine but the rear one was still blinking so the actuator probably needs a good cleaning. I told him the rear locker wasn't working and he didn't even know what a locker was. We talked for a bit and he said "what if I take another $1000 off the price?"...........HOLY COW!!! Yeah that will work.....LOL. I didn't want to drive it back with the axle seal bad so he made a call to a buddy of his that owns a towing service and the guy picked it up with a rollback and brought it all the way to my house for $250 so with the tow bill, I have $1750 in it. Needless to say, I couldn't be more happy. I'm pretty sure I can have both birfs serviced and the rear locker going again for less than $1000. That leaves me a lot of room for mods. Since the guy is doing the work after he gets off at the dealership, it will take a little while to get it done but for half of what the dealer charges, I'll be happy to wait.

BTW, what kind of rear bumper did you get? Post a pic when you get time, would really like to see it.

I'm wanting to put an ARB bull bar on the front and a Slee bar on the rear but will have to buy one at a time................rear bar is $2700 with ladder and tire carrier. That's $3700 for bumpers, good Lord they're proud of those. I think I will do the OME lift and tires first and then work on the armor.

WOW 1500 Dollars that's crazy! I wish I had that luck everything I have looked at has been a lot more. Your mods list looks exactly like what I had planned if I get an 80. The only exception is I would be tempted to run the Slee front bumper over the ARB even though it doesn't offer as much frontal protection. Since I am dumping more money in my Runner I will probably look for a 100 as a DD to replace my old Taco. Originally I bought the Runner to replace the Taco and then pick up an 80 for a toy but the mod bug bit hard on the Runner. If I buy 100 I will try to keep it fairly stock as I will probably go off the deep end on the Runner or already have lol... I ended up ordering a Hefty fab rear bumper with dual swing-outs. Chris is going to build it as much as he can out of aluminum and it will still have some steel parts or frame, I guess you could call it a hybrid rear bumper. I am up in the air on a front bumper part of me says just stick with the plastic front for MPG and the other half says just do it for the extra frontal protection. If I do a front it will probably be aluminum or another hybrid bumper as well to keep the weight down. I also have an ARB rear locker for this thing but I won't install it till I get the bumpers on in case I feel the need to re-gear it. Any way Glad to see you got such a Great deal on the 80!

Yeah, I still can't believe it. I took it around the block today for a ride because it's driving me crazy it just setting in the garage. I drove into some loose gravel and tried to lock the diffs in again, after going in a circle the rear stopped blinking and engaged. I was reading about the rear diff not locking on IH8MUD and that's what they suggested. They said the front will lock up as soon as you turn the knob but the rear needed to slip a little. Guess I got lucky on that one. Hopefully this time next week it will be in the garage getting the axle seals done and maybe in a couple weeks I'll be driving it. It's nice having another DD so I'm not in a big hurry to get it going but I am ready to get behind the wheel. It's almost like being 15 and still a month before you can get your license.

We welcomed a new 4Runner to the family this week. My son said while he's young and has no debt he might as well get something he wanted so he pulled the trigger. He graduated college last year and bought a 2004 but has had his eye on a newer limited for a while now. He's single and making good money so I don't blame him. I haven't had a car payment in 20 years so it's not for me but at that age I did the same thing. I drove it yesterday and I will admit, it sure is nice.

Nice buy. The Land Cruiser is legendary as the longest running model @ Toyota thus requires little explanation being a truly world-class platform w/ no equal.

Fully ICON'd out

I found an 80 that's set-up exactly the way I want to finish mine. I even found a set of the TRD wheels that I'm going to try and get this weekend if the guy still has them They're black but I think I will paint them gun metal.

I think this one looks just about perfect

Those clear lens Altezza style lights have got to go... as do the chrome door handles.

I'd probably leave a WTF? note on his windshield.

I'm still saying it's perfect, especially after watching the video on it. Decide for yourself

I found a pic of my first Land Cruiser yesterday. This was back in 1993 with my boys, they're now 25 and 27, boy how time flies. This one was a 1983 FJ60 in that ugly turd brown color but I sure loved that old Cruiser. I bought it on the day that the Blizzard of 93 hit. We had over 2 feet of snow here in east TN and she never missed a beat.

That is one nice 80 series it's nice to see a Toyota V8 instead of the normal LS swap.
