Contemplating 1st Gen Sequoia Lift/Level

I have a 2005 Sequoia 2wd with about 130k. Considered adding 1.25" wheel spacers to get the tires level with the fenders, 1" rear lift via a steel coil spring seat, and 2" front lift with a bolt in spacer. I don't want it high just up a bit. About where the 4wd version sits.

Like gold-plating an outhouse doorknob. It's a Sequoia, and it's 2wd, just drive it. Spend your money on something useful.

I actually like my gold plated door knobs, but someone keeps steel I g them and my outhouse happens to be doorless at the moment..... The lift isn't a budget killer
( $100 +\-) the Sequoia need new shocks & struts, anyway and I like the stock ride so OEM shocks and struts. I've been down the lift the hell out of It and feel this would look better with a minimalist approach. Since when does 2wd suck?

2wd doesn't suck at all, it's an ideal drivetrain for the vast majority of cars. I'm just a big fan of function, and lifting a 2wd seems as counterproductive as lowering a 4wd to me?

My Sequoia is an 06' 4WD, honestly I don't think it sits any higher than 2WD models.

If your replacing shocks/ect. anyway and you want a more aggressive stance, I say go for it, its your truck do what you want. Not only will it look better but it will make it unique.

I used to think lifting a 2WD was pointless as well, until we lifted my cousin's Tacoma 2WD(non-PreRunner, you know the "grandpa model" that sits real low), we got it up to Pre-Runner height running 31x10.50s,(stock was 27x8.5) needless to say going up to tires four inches bigger made the truck a totally different vehicle. Not only did it look much better but I could handle much more difficult terrain that he never would have attempted before.

Anyway, if you like the look of a more aggressive stance that is reason enough to do it. Will it add anything to the functionality? other than a negligible increase in ground clearance probly not. I am a firm believer in liking what you drive so if that's what you like, do it! You are the one who has to drive it after all.

I have been researching leveling kits for my sequoia as well, not to lift just to get rid of the rake and get a more level stance. If it allowed me to go up a tire size say to a 32" that would be a bonus.

I know toyotec has some nice kits but seems most of them are more aggressive than what I'm looking for, which is a mild leveling kit.

I ended up piecing together a 2" front spacer, with a new OE strut, and just leaving the rear until I see where the Sequoia sits.

Desoto national forest is just north of us and Paul B. Johnson State park is very nice south of Hattiesburg.

Ended up doing bilstien 5100 struts in front set at 2.5" lift and and 5100 shocks + 1" spacer in rear (until I find a rear coil spring I like).

I opted for the 1.3 inch setting on the Bilstein's and left the rear alone. This is our over the road travel vehicle soooo keeping simple and not turning it into my 4Runner.

Mine are set on the fourth notch which is supposedly 2" lift but I ended up with 2.5", which is why I had to get the spacer to get back to level. My original plan was to leave the rear alone also but figured I'd replace the shocks while I was installing the spacers. Have to say I'm not nearly as impressed with the rear 5100s as I was with the fronts, defiantly an improvement just not as dramatic as in front.

BTW That 4Runner is SICK! making me miss my third gen. Really like the lift/tire combo, looks just right. What setup are you running?

Thank you, I remember feeling the same way with a setup I had a while back on the 4R, 5100's in the front were niiiice, in the back....not as great. Matter of fact the rear is still suffering from 5100's there are ok but the ass is usually all over the place.

The sequoia will get new rear shocks and sway bar ends links in a few months followed by ball joints in about 6 months.

Le me see if I can find the build thread and make sure it is updated on the 4R and I'll post it.
