I'm excited for that moment... a lot of hard work is going into making that happen. Thanks man.

The 4Runner forum guys are a much more hospitable and helpful group to deal with.

Paint should be done about the end of March... Running and driving in June or July. All subject to change... it's a long process because the bodywork and paint is not being done through typical venues. Inevitably, something will need upgrading since it's out.... the slope's getting slippery!

As I didn't initially see him pull up, I was thinking Japanese Sports car, by the rumble of the engine sound... I was really surprised to see a TR6! I had to ask him about this! It seems he found the TR6 in a farmers' field. He purchased a Supra front clip. He spent 6 mo. cutting/welding and modifying the TR6 to take the 2JZ-GE. The car became a Triumota---- a highly modified Triumph body and frame, and Toyota drive-train and suspension. He told me its REALLY fun to drive and he claims he plans on being buried in it, in 30-35 years!!
|
Thanks man, appreciate the nice words. That sounds like a coffin in itself!! A sweet ride no doubt, but that just sounds frightening. Very cool that he shoehorned that baby in there. A non-turbo 2JZ-GE is all that thing needs to scoot along. Got any pics?
He must have great self control.

She certainly will! It's killing me not being able to drive the car, and knowing that it will be months until it can be driven once again. It's really quite unbelievable that someone was able to do such damage to this car and think it was a worthwhile endeavor. Finally, the car is getting the love it deserves.

I was out at SEMA, only found a couple MKIV's the whole time I was there.
One was a Renaissance Red JDM RHD car. While clean, it solidifies my beliefs of the following: I hate most all Supra aftermarket parts like bumpers, side/quarter skirts, huge spoilers, stickers (go fresh yourself), and mirrors. The motor was rather sexual.
My car will have at most one to two aftermarket exterior parts - a front lip on the stock bumper, and perhaps a spoiler.
The other was Dan Burkett's RAD INDUSTRIES MKIV. Fun fact: The original wheels from Dan's drift car are on my MK3, I bought them from him a couple years before the Drift supra was done. Scroll down to see the pictures from when I first saw this car.
Pictures when I got my wheels from Dan, Feb 2015, two months before I got the MKIV.
HKS 2JZ at the Mitsubishi Turbo booth. I think those are even Imperial Jade valve covers!

It is currently insured for a guaranteed value of $30,000.
Will be increased to $50,000 when the car is done.

This was a hard choice, but ultimately, it came down to the following:
- White doesn't show the lines of the car in a way that pleases me. I am trying to keep the car an OEM Supra color, and frankly, the white they used on these cars isn't all that flattering.
- Every car on the road nowadays is either white, black, or silver. Don't want any of those.
- I want a metallic color that really pops in the sunlight. This brought me to the main choices of either Renaissance Red or Imperial Jade Mica. Some folks think Royal Sapphire Pearl is a nice color, but it's too purple/girly for my liking.
- Red is nice, but there's a lot of red Supras, and the color is too flashy. I don't want too much police attention.
Thus, I've settled on Imperial Jade Mica. The headlights and tail lights on the car are from a 96-98, they're gunmetal on the inside, which is a perfect color to contrast against Imperial Jade. Also, I got the emblems from a 96-98 Supra that are also Gunmetal in color.
My 3rd gen is Imperial Jade, and I absolutely adore the color. Imagine a matching set of Imperial Jade Toyotas, one for dirt and one for street. The dark green with gunmetal gray shared across both. A few splotches of black and red and we're in business. My pants just got tight.
The wheels are likely going to be a gunmetal or lighter color. No black.

LOL this guy really is good at what he does. I'm making a video, but it's going to be super long and a touch boring if you're not into sanding...
Igor AKA Justin is turning this ugly duckling back into something pretty.

Wipers and cowl removed. Windshield is also cut out, however, I chose to leave it in place for now, simply for the purposes of dust containment.
Removal of further unnecessary garbage (yuck). I made sure to use some bolt cutters when removing the transmission hard lines, just to ensure they’ll never be allowed to aid in the witchcraft that is the automatic transmission. Dreadful, disgusting, I cast my hatred upon thee. There’s a special place in hell for the A340 (this is now the fourth vehicle I’ll have swapped to a manual, all started with A340’s)
This ugly transmission cooler that was ziptied in the front left side air duct turned out to be a Fluidyne, which was a surprise. May repurpose this as the new power steering cooler, after it meets some aircraft remover.
Battery, intake piping, radiator, and other miscellaneous coming out. The power steering leak of old caused all of this mess prior to my ownership.
