I sourced a couple polyurethane bushings that fit the radiator mounts very nicely, using a medium durometer material that allows for some vibration dampening. The inner diameter is not the right size, but a couple short metal sleeves fixed that issue. There’s even a few grooves on the ID of the bushings for lubrication. I’m going to have to clean the radiator up really nice and maybe even a bit of solder/weld work on a couple spots. It does its job rather well, so repair is worth saving the money I’d have used on a new aluminum radiator. Perhaps it may be replaced with a better unit in the future, as the AC fan mounting is not accurately positioned.

Megan downpipe and HKS Super Drager catback removed. Polyurethane exhaust hangers are also going in to reduce movement near the exhaust tip, in an effort to prevent contact with the rear bumper. The Megan downpipe is angled poorly and brings the exhaust down too low, thus I may be considering modifying it with a pie cut to straighten things out. I plan to go single turbo in a year or two, that would be a great time to get a higher quality downpipe.

Doors coming apart.

Booger welds with little penetration to the metal below… holes drilled through the tie bar, welds from the frame rail up through the holes.

Simply epic man. I believe this thread might be the most detailed (pic heavy) restore thread on T4R in totality. You really show the huge amount of work goes into doing a proper restore. Clearly it doesn't hurt to have friends.

Wow James, this is amazing. I've never been too big a fan on MK4's simply because of the stereotypical owners, and I don't like the way they look with all the body kits and what not that they usually have, but a stock MK4 looks really good. I love what you're doing with this, it's exactly what I would do, but I don't have the connections you do to have the body work done to such a high level. Can't wait to see it done!

Still my favorite thread on this whole site. Not many people have the patience to do what you're doing to bring that car back to its glory. Cant wait to see more progress!

The amount of work is staggering, agreed. There's so many details that get overlooked in most threads, even in mine, but photos are just the best way to convey that. More text sure would help. Friends are definitely something to be thankful for.

The owners man, I get you. There's a lot of great people, but just as many of "them." Most MKIV's make me want to gag, between the wavy body kits and tacky add-ons.

Thanks man, it'll be a pleasure to bring a finished product to this thread. I have some progress to report, hoping that it will all result in a clean, respectable MKIV!

That says a lot, especially since this isn't even close to done! Thank you for your patience as well, it has been slow, hopefully your time spent will be worth it when there's a finished product upon the pages of this thread.

Pulling the car out of the garage just enough, before jacking it up and putting a couple blocks under the front wheels.
