Finally got the ball rolling here on the new bushings.

I'm waiting for the prototypes to be made, in the meantime, I'm cleaning

All blown apart

Started cleaning the aluminum part, it's coming out pretty nice.

Round 1

Round 2

Parts on the left are going to be sandblasted later on.

This part was ultra-coated in grease and took some serious time to clean.

The very first set of MKIV lower control arm bushings should be ready to go on this car within the next two weeks...

I don't even have my 4Runner anymore, but I still pop back in every other month or so to check progress on this build. Absolutely amazing work, and the attention to detail is perfect. One day when she's done I'll have to come down and "visit my dad" in MV so I can have an excuse look at your car.

Great thread so far. Your dedication to using OEM parts and converting to manual is amazing. I have a Viper 6 speed in my Dakota and have always loathed automatics for performance cars. My Dad owned a Supra back in the day so I have always loved them. The paint on yours is mind blowing.

News that Toyota will restart making parts for your A80 Supra. Nice.

Toyota will supposed begin reproducing parts for the Mark III A70 and Mark VI A80 Supra - Autoblog

Just spent the last 3 hours reading through this thread, thankfully its slow at work. Amazing documentation and quality of restoration. That thing will be better than it was from the factory! Staying tuned for some more updates and can't wait to see pictures of it on the ground with those new wheels. Again, very well done.

Howdy! Sorry for the lack of updates, it took forever to get the subframes back from Energy. Thank you for coming back!

The subframes took way longer than anticipated, I'm hoping to have regular updates from here until the project's completion.

Dude. That's amazing, thank you. Nothing like popping up on a 4Runner forum to check out a Supra build, lol.

Let me know whenever you visit your dad, come take a look!

YES, thank you. OEM parts are the best. I try to use them whenever possible.

A viper transmission in a Dakota?! It is clear that we have similar tastes in swaps! Forget automatics!

That's also super cool that you got to experience a Supra back in the day.

Thanks for the compliments.

Ohhhh man... I'm just waiting until they actually start... just for the MKIV alone, I want A pillar trim, TRD tachometer, dash lower panel, interior trims, etc... soo many parts to order... can't wait!

Thank you for spending that time reading/looking through my build! Hahaha great for a slow day at work. Thank you also for the kind words, I'll be sure to get some shots of it on its wheels very soon.

Thanks huski! I'll try to roll out updates faster now that I have the subframes back from Energy Suspension.

COB, With lack of updates was thinking one of two things happened. Hold up at Energy or you finished it and someone offered you a ungodly amount of dollars for it, $200k+ didn't want to talk about, Lol.

DANG! 200k! lol I would have a hard time turning that down!

Your intuition was correct, the subframes took from Dec 2018 - July 2019 to be brought back home. Considering that most of the build relies on the subframes being in the car, I had to go do some other stuff for a while.

When Supra's hit $125k last year you weren't sounding like you'd sell, figured it would take near $200k for you to give it up. Then you updated your other Supra thread got me speculating.

Energy Suspension took about 8 months with my subframes, so that really put a hamper on the build.

There's a whole driveway full of other cars that need some attention, it was best to occupy my time with them.

All this subframe stuff got me thinking about the MK3...

Energy everything.. control arms, sway bars, end links, coil isolator, next is subframe bushings...

Rebuilt the R154 with all marlin crawler goodies, then installed Energy Suspension polyurethane engine and transmission mounts using driftmotion hardware.

Also new clutch and flywheel.

Had Justin straighten up the front and rear to get it all square again. It won an award at Toyotafest which I was stoked about.

Definitely did my fair share of hitting the trails also.

Red turbo 4Runner got a new brake master and was on daily duty this whole time.
