Engine bay wiring harness cleaned up and ready for installation:
















Brand new OEM hardware. Black zinc finish.







New 98 master. This accomplishes both a nice clear reservoir and elimination of the TRAC system.







New gasket to booster and new OEM nuts.







Brake lines are all cleaned up and ready for installation.

New TRD sway bars in red







Energy Suspension greaseable sway bar brackets with 90 degree zerks + red zerk caps, as well as red polyurethane bushings (As opposed to the black that Toyota supplies)







Front installed












Rear installed. New bolts on the KW's.

















Took this time to install the targa seal against the windshield header, plus the front section of headliner, dome light, and sun visors.










Still keeping the plastic on the new A pillar trim until she's ready to drive










With coilovers and sway bars installed, the suspension is just about complete. The car is ready to sit on its wheels for the first time since November of 2018.














Coilovers at their lowest setting, just for ease of install. Will have to come up quite a bit for the engine to go in.







The front wheels poke out quite a bit with the 25mm spacers that were run with the stock TT wheels. There's some space between the spoke and caliper for the wheel to come in a bit.









My friend Harman, a machinist, brought over his gauge block set to do a front wheel clearance check. There is about 14mm of space between spoke and caliper. The current spacer is a 25mm, going to drop it down to 12mm with extended ARP studs to see what can be accomplished. May have to go down to a narrower front tire should the fender clearance still be an issue.














Another note - the external hex lug nuts have been swapped for internal hex. I'm going to have the new ARP studs shortened about 10mm to allow for the use of internal hex lugs all around. I don't like the idea of a socket scratching up the wheel.

With the car on the ground, it was finally time to get it turned around. Installation of the doors requires ample space to swing the door fully open. The passenger side door is next.

Door is assembled with new screw grommets and belt molding. The glass is just waiting for when the car has power.
















I am getting major goosebumps... Soon she will return to the streets.












I'm going to contact a friend in the industry to hopefully get a new set of rotors and pads front and rear. I'm also going to try to find a good powder coating source to redo the OEM TT calipers in red.








Here the car sits, waiting for extended studs and new brakes. Hubs are cleaned up and will be shot with SEM Trim Black before the new studs go in. This way, the center hole on the Enkei wheels will show a black hub instead of an ugly rusted hub.


The new 12mm hubcentric spacer fits really well, but the stud length will not allow for any lug engagement. Holding the wheel against the spacer/hub by hand, it freely rotates without caliper interference. It has the caliper clearance of a German car (AKA - 1mm or so, super close!)



The front KW's are now adjusted to about 75mm of thread between the bottom of the perch and bottom thread. Pics of that will come after the studs arrive and I can put the car down on it's own wheels again.

The wheel situation has got me thinking about future brake plans.



I love the look of the Enkeis, but I am not willing to go to any further efforts, especially if it means being stuck with OEM TT brakes.


While I am sure that the stock brake setup is great and all, even better would be the Stoptech 6-piston ST-60 front setup/4 piston rear. 355mm rotor diameter front and rear.








The Forgestar F14's look pretty slick, plus they can be ordered in whatever sizes are needed, and custom finishes. Using the Stoptech ST-60 clearance template, the front wheels will clear with ample space to spare, using no spacers whatsoever, stock length wheel studs. Rear should be no issue.


Here they are, in brushed gloss gunmetal,
18x9.5 front, +45 offset, semi-concave
18x11 rear, +48 offset, deep-concave










Off with the Enkei's to get the tires swapped over.










White sawblades anyone? LOL

The StopTechs have a 4-6 week lead time so they'll be arriving around the end of June.



Gonna hang onto the old calipers and lines, maybe one day I'll get an SC300 to swap them onto, as well as the H&R lowering springs and TT sway bars. The rotors are junk.



They sure look nasty behind the new wheels.

Spent a good amount of time wiring in a proper alarm system with numerous safety measures. It's almost time to get the carpet in!









Got the front bumper all assembled. Titek Carbon lip, HKS Kansai style.








Targa top assembled with all new side trims, hardware, and new targa lock. Original headliner. New seals going in soon.












A set of 4 boxes came in:











Front: ST-60 6-piston brake calipers with slotted rotors. Stoptech upgraded the rotors from non-coated to Zinc-coated Viper-Spec all around. Stainless lines also included.











Rear set uses the same 355 diameter coated Viper-spec rotor with ST-40 4-piston brake calipers.

Rear brake install, starting with removal of factory dust shield. The spot welds can be broken with a screwdriver or prying tool.














Out with the old... to be saved for a future project... maybe an SC?

After installation of just the right rear brake, it was hard to resist getting the car outside for a few photos.










The IJM paint is damn near erotic. Could never get this depth with the factory Super White. My Supras together for comparison.
