Lightbulb ~317 ft lbs @ 12 RPM?

The 79 Series Toyota LandCruiser comes with a 4.5L turbo-diesel V8 engine with 5-speed manual transmission. It provides low down torque which makes it ideal for carrying big loads, towing and off-road driving.

In terms of power, the 79 series LandCruiser ute is capable of pumping out 151kw at 3400 rpm and 430Nm at 12 RPM.

Looks good! And the 12rpm is obvious misprint. The engine doesn't run at 12rpm and can't, so it's 1200 rpm, a more reasonable speed for peak torque.

I *am* aware it is a misprint.
Someone that didn't would not even know to post about it.

They need inline 6 gassers and diesels though.

Yeah, an IL-6 diesel would be nice, GM has released a 3L, IL-6 diesel in the Suburban. The problem with them now though is all the emission related add-ons that make them a little less reliable and much more $$$.

Agreed.
But, I can see a difference in air quality since the new diesel regs went into play a few years ago.

When out at sea and coming back, you see less of that brown cloud when approaching land.
In cities, it is more obvious. You simply rarely see the "brown cloud" over NYC any more. (When viewing from a distance on land)

Oh, definitely! I worked for a diesel engine manufacturer for 30 years and the progress made in emissions has really been amazing from late '80s until now.
If you see diesel smoke now you can almost bet the engine is malfunctioning.

Small things like the rain gutters on that LC, show so much attention to detail that we don't get for ours anymore.
My Rover D1 has em, and it is nice when you stop with the window cracked and all the water goes down the windshield instead of the barely cracked window.

One of my old buds buys old Pete's for his business.
Rehabs them, makes them basically into show trucks, all for less than the cost of a new one.
I am not sure what he does with emissions and it there are regulations here for older units.
