Grand Highlander Hybrid Max - Battery Range, if any?

My wife is narrowing down a few vehicles, the Grand Highlander is on the list, and I was wondering about the Hybrix Max model and how that really works?

Obviously there is the gas engine part, then the battery power.....my big question is does that battery power ever run out or is it always being recharged by braking or the gas engine?

She tends to travel a LOT for kids sports and does not want this higher HP model to drop to half that halfway through her trip or on the way home.

I have looked on-line and messaged Toyota and have not received an answer, anyone know? Thank you!
