For Places the 4runner Can't Go

Picked up a 1985 Honda XL600R. It's in fantastic shape, and it's a beast.
I have 2 adult kids that want me to teach how to ride a motorcycle. I prefer "dual sports" for this and damage is less than a road bike when it is dropped.
And after moving back to AZ the MVD wants another skills test. That would entail a lot of work on my road bikes.
It's a bit larger than I'd like for teaching but the power is easily controllable.
It's kick-start only so a 600cc single cylinder is a challenge and demands respect. Kick-back can hurt you.
This one also has an issue I need to address before regular use. It will suddenly rev to redline for no reason that I can discern. Haven't delved into it yet.

Rode an XR600R for several years, best bike I owned, had a blast on it on the marked trails in northern Michigan, no hill it couldn't conquer!

Figured out what was causing the spontaneous revving, nut on the throttle cable came loose and would get stuck in the cam on the carburetor.
Now to learn to start it when I want, not when the bike feels like starting.

I couldn't watch the video because it got deleted on Reddit by the person who posted it. But judging by the comments, it was really epic and pretty comedic. But seriously, I'm looking at different brands and models of electric scooters for adults to buy, so the charging issue is really relevant for me. Can I charge it at home or at work when I get there? Otherwise, what's the point? I'm a pretty anxious person and now I'm worried that if I get an e-scooter and try to charge it at home, something bad might happen.
