View Full Version : Hardwire Aux Input 4th Gen JBL?

I realize this issue has been discussed, well kinda. I would like to hardwire an aux input to the back of the JBL radio. One like this:

That way I could hook-up my iPod or anything else I want to. Is there an input on the back of the JBL radio? Or maybe an external CD changer connection that could be used? A place somewhere else, easier to access, would be even better.

I'ld be interested in this too. Anyone know how an FM modulator would compare to this? I've been debating on the two, but I don't know if it's worth doing the wiring if the FM modulator provides the same audio quality.

While the FM input would be easy, I am looking for a better (reliable) connection. I have used the cassette tape input and read about the FM modulators and still want a hardwire connection. I see that it is available for the European cars, so I assume it should be available for Toyotas.

With the speedy evolution of digital music, I wish more auto manufacturers would add RCA inputs to the front of the radios.

If there is a factory connection for a remote CD changer in the 4Runner, then there will be an available connection. Maybe a look at a wiring diagram would work.

Check this thread out. I did a little bit of research and found that website.

Still not sure if it will work on the head units in our 4Runners though.

Check out the forum on the Blitzsafe site:

http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_forum/default.asp

Blitzsafe claims that they will have an auxiliary input that will work for 2003/2004 4runners, but right now they are waiting on a shipment of some new connectors.

Also, they seem to use input from potential customers (like us!) to determine where to focus their efforts. So if you're wanting an aux in for your new 4runner, it might be available sooner if we could each send them an e-mail or post on their forum.

This is the response from SoundGate:

"The 04 4Runner is an all different system from years of past. At this point
there are no interfaces to match what it behind the radio or speaking the
same language as the Toyota car. Right now there is nothing to add an AUX
to these cars and I don't know when there might be anything. Sorry CHET."

It sounds like we will have an Aux Input at long last.
