Why did you change the design from the one pictured in the first post here? Something failed?

(Investigating flat bolt on, vs wrap, vs u-bolts... leaning towards ordering from you, judging by reviews, but this change caught my eye here..)
We never had any failures with the early design, we just saw a way to improve our design and make them even stronger.

We do not have any distributors in Canada, but we can ship sliders to Canada. Please email kylie@c4fabrication.com with your shipping info and she can get you a price quote.
Pretty much everyone gets them with the step plates. They are very useful for stepping on to reach the roof rack. Also they are nice for pets getting in and out of the vehicle. Gives them a surface to step on instead of their leg falling through and getting caught in the rock slider tubes.

That's odd. If nothing fails why add weight and decrease clearance.

Ordered bumper from you guys, but held off on sliders..

Nothing failed because we only made a few sets that way early on. We changed the design and added the wrap around design because we knew it would be much stronger.
I have seen first hand where other brands of sliders that only mount to the side of the frame will actually crush in the frame rail from using the sliders heavily. This happens because the sliders are not mounted to the bottom of the frame as well as the side.
The added material that wraps around the bottom of the frame only adds about 5lbs in weight to the sliders.
Would you prefer to save 5lbs and risk crushing in the side of your frame rail because the mounting design of the sliders was inferior? Or would you prefer to have a solid designed slider that will actually protect your vehicle instead of causing damage to it?

So you knew of the failures, even if not your own? I wish manufacturers would talk about such issues, because all I had for information is the first picture in this thread, I assumed you wouldn't publish that if it doesn't work, and ended up ordering the same construction type, so as not to hang gas tank skid even lower. Great.

OK. You convinced me. Cancelled other ones and ordered your rails with steps to go with bumper. Matching paint will be a plus - need to decide which one. Considering two layers of Rust Bullet with rattle can top coat for visible areas. Not sure about powder coat.

Thanks so much for your order, we really appreciate it!
Why would manufacturers post up or admit that their product caused damage to a customers vehicle? They do their best to keep that sort of thing hidden while they fix the issue!
The first posts on this thread are from 3 years ago when we first designed the sliders. We haven't updated the photos because this thread hardly ever gets bumped.
We do have a more relevant thread that shows lots of pictures of our sliders: Show off your C4 FAB Rock Sliders!!
The most recent photo posted on that thread shows a good shot of the frame mounting plates and what they look like now.
You mentioned losing some ground clearance, it will be 3/16" lost because that is how thick the frame mounting plates are on our sliders. Obviously we all want the most ground clearance possible, but I doubt a loss of 3/16" is ever going to make a difference in just about any situation at all.

What would be nice if you had a version of your gas tank skid modified to account for your rail wrap. I would imagine it would be a minimal change, not sure how you do your jigs.

I emailed her twice once from the link here and once from a reply you send me via your website email no reply. I really do want to order some stuff but if I don't hear from you guys soon I will look elsewhere. Can you use the sliders as a jacking point? Or will this cause damage?

going through the instructions now and they are saying to drill the transmission cross member on the passenger side, can you clarify this C4 as I bought these on the premise they were no drill.

There is no way to modify the skid plate. It needs to overlap the rock slider plate and use all of the same mounting holes in the frame.

I think we responded to you in our emails, but just wanted to make sure. Have all your questions been answered?

Drilling is optional and not required.

Exactly. It would just have that side 1/4 shorter, to overlap, but hang down at the same height. As as far as I can tell the actual gas tank does remain in the same place.

But it is very satisfying.

Question for the audience here.

Is that normal to have that much rust on the new rails middle tube. Usually I was getting fabricated parts free of rust.

And one hole on the middle support for passenger side does not align with anything and drilled through edge. There are two tapped holes on the frame top edge there, but nothing for those.

We had a batch of material that got wet and rusted during delivery to our shop. We did the best we could to clean off the material before using it. Getting steel supplied to us in South Dakota isn't easy and it would have set us back weeks if we waited for another delivery.
The sliders should be sandblasted before getting powder coated anyways, that process will easily remove the rust.
Not all of the holes line up with threaded holes in the frame on every model so do not be concerned about that. The top hole is obviously just very close to the edge of the material so sometimes the laser cutter removes the material right at the edge. Also not a problem since we use so many attachment points on every rock slider. Just install the flange bolt and flat washer as normal into that hole and it will be fine.

I was planning on painting, not powder coating. Bought primer and all to paint this weekend. I do not have access to a sandblaster. Never had I got a new part this rusty. :/. Need to figure something out. As I would need to match paint to bumper, and commercial powdercoating in the vicinity is much overpriced. And I would rather paint for ease of touch up. Will try to hit it with wire brush next weekend.

Misdrilled hole does not align with any hole on the frame. There are two top tapped holes there, above the pretty c4 logo, but no holes cut for those. Is it ok that middle portion will have no support on top of the plate? I can try to drill one or two. I understand most load would be push, not pull on top.

Otherwise a very well made part. Like your bumper. Too bad installation delayed. Now I am set back a “bunch of weeks” - I would have rather waited for a clean part I could paint. Some advise before shipping out would have been appreciated.
