Hardware question

I have had a few people ask how the washers go on the bolts that are provided with the sliders. The split lock washer goes on the bolt first, and then the grade 8 flat washer goes next.

For all of you guys with KDSS systems, we have not had access to a KDSS 4runner yet to do an install and take photos. Basically the sliders install the same as the regular sliders. The only difference is that you need to un-bolt the KDSS hydraulic lines from the side of the frame rail and pull them away from the frame far enough to fit the rock slider frame plate up behind them. Then the KDSS lines get bolted back into the same location as before using the 8mm bolts provided by us.

Here is a good link with pictures for the KDSS guys: How to: Install Rock Sliders with KDSS
Getting ready to install my sliders and checking the hardware. I didn't recieve any split lock washers only flats. Can I install without them or do I need to get some. Thanks.

FYI

I just got off the phone with Caleb and because C4Fab has switched to flanged bolts, the split ring washers are no longer necessary.

The flanged bolts with the flat washers are sufficient to provide the necessary clamping force.

The split washers are no longer needed. Go ahead and use just the flange bolt and flat washer.

MY GARAGE
Just ordered mine!

Just ordered my sliders tonight after talking to Caleb today. Looking forward to getting them!

Question: Is anybody applying any Loctite (red or blue) prior to installing the bolts? Also, for the holes that are being drilled into the frames, has anybody had any thoughts on painting the holes for rust prevention? Granted, I live in the desert (it's a dry heat!) but I still wonder if its not a bad idea?

Unhappy 2014+ 4Runner C4 Rock Sliders - For Sale

I have a set of brand new C4 Rock sliders for sale. They are for 2014+ 4Runner They have the bolt on step pads, and TRD Pro Text. I had them disassembled, blasted, zinc coated, then powder coated. They will not fit vehicles with KDSS system. Hence I'm selling them. They cost me $878 from C4, plus $320 for prep and coating. So I have almost $1,200 into these things. Expense mistake. I have a 2018 TRD Off road (Pro build) w/KDSS. Didn't want to pay silly $$ or wait months for a PRO from the dealer. Lesson learned - don't shop for expensive gear late a night when you've just got done changing our your intake system and lights. I live in Broomfield CO, but will ship elsewhere.

I have a set of these for sale

I mistakenly bought a set of these for my 2018 4R with KDSS. The type I bought will only work for non KDSS vehicles. C4 won't take them back or modify them. So I need to sell them and order the right sliders.

Did you talk to anyone at our shop about returning them? Its not that we wont take them back, its just that you would need to pay shipping to get them back to us.

Hi Caleb,

For your current production sliders, do we need to flatten out the KDSS skid plate tabs still?

Also, do we need to drill on the passenger side still? Just wanted to make sure as your website says no drilling required, but the install instructions have a step for drilling.

Yes the skid plate tab will need to be flattened. Drilling on the passenger side is optional and not required.
