Sorry, I haven't been very active recently. I got tasked to join a new unit to prepare for a deployment and ending up out of state for a couple months prior to leaving. I've been gone for a few months now and things are starting to settle down a little bit so maybe I can direct a little of my time here. Well, it sounds like there is a little more interest then when I initally polled. I'm willing to do what ever is necessary to get this off the ground but I wont be a very effective "head" until I return stateside, hopefully within the next 3-4 months. After chatting with the few guys I worked with they were all talk as far as forming a club but would rather just tag along on trips and camp. A mission statement should be easy to come up with, something relatively generic for offraod clubs. I will work on one over the next week or so but we really can't go anywhere without a name to go by. I'm not creative enough to come up with that by myself. Do we want it to be a 4runner club? Toyota? 4x4? I prefer it be open to all Toyota, nothing against Jeeps but they have enough of thier own clubs. I can say this because I own a 79 CJ. Still looking for suggestions...
A little info about myself;
My name is John and I am a member of the USAF. I am currently stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, NC. Been in for just over 16yrs. I graduated high school in AZ where I got into offroading, mostly desert/dune riding out there. I got stationed in SoCal where I was able to continue my offroad hobbies riding dirtbikes and I bought what I could afford at the time a 4wd Geo Tracker, man that thing was a beast with 285's on it. After that I got really big into quads/atv's. My YFZ450 became my passion, riding in the dunes, trails, and tracks. In AZ is where I met my wife that was raised on toyotas, myself a chevy man. She converted me when we bought out first 2000 4-runner, it was unstoppable and never went to the shop even after we abused the hell out of it. I ended up trading that in for a new 2005 Tacoma later because I wanted a little more power and that new motor was just what I was looking for. Now we have a 2013 4-runner and a 81 Toyota Pickup. I also have a 79 CJ being restored slowly by my father in AZ. Haven't decided to bring it out here yet, that's a long drive. I've been in NC for just over a year and haven't really done as much offroading as I would like, hence the reason for wanting to create this group and make some friends that share the same passion for being outdoors and on the trails.

Mission Statement:
This club is a family oriented club for Toyota off-road enthusiasts to unite owners who seek to use, protect, and preserve public trails for the sport of motorized off-roading. Although incorporated in the state of North Carolina, this club shall be open to all Toyota enthusiasts willing to meet the requirements of membership. This club is committed to safe, responsible four wheeling and adherence to the principals of Tread Lightly! This organization is a Non-Profit Corporation and as such, is organized for the purpose of social, recreational and educational activities designed to foster the enjoyment of off-road vehicles.
Not all my original work. Kind of a cut and paste of other organizations out there. Figured there is no need to re-invent the wheel here.
I'd be willing to front the incorporation fees when I get back stateside but we definitely need a good name. Let me know what you all think about the mission statement. Simple membership requirements; attend at least one club event/meet and greet annually. Sound fair/legit?

Great work! Hopefully we will be up and organized soon. Maybe next year the club can adopt a trail at URE. I still go out with the LC club for workdays. It's a great way to preserve and protect our trails, and also a tax write off.

Okay so are we doing this? I just recently moved from Winston Salem to the Rocky Mount area. So I'm down with some beach wheeling!
Would love to help in anyway I can.

Yes, we are doing this. At least I'm trying. If you'd like to help, come up with a name for the group. Then we could create a facebook page to make it easier and more timely to communicate. I think a facebook page will also help generate more interest. Once that's done, a first meet and greet would be in order.

Okay, I'll start thinking on a name.
As an aside, are there any owners out around Rocky Mount?
