Dry Fuel Return Line

Here is an update to my project.

Fuel pump was operating intermittently so I got a electrical, exterior mounted fuel pump. It works but ( I have gas to the rails ) I do not know what the pressure is, however I am not getting any return fuel.

The engine cranks but does not start. I have spark.
If I pour some gas in the carb it starts up and runs for a few seconds.

Do I need to replace the Fuel Pressure regulator?
I disconnected the line, turned the engine over and nothing come out....

Is the pressure not strong enough?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

What year? It sounds like a pressure issue. An inline fuel pump, like was used once, operated at lower PSI than in tank pumps. In tank pumps also slightly pressurize the tank to help with fuel transmission.

My guess is by installing an external, in line, pump you are not building up enough pressure?

Why not replace the intank pump with a cheap aftermarket built to spec? Surely that has to be a simpler solution than attempting to jury rig a 3rd part solution and to trouble shoot the inevitable problems that are going to crop up?

Agree with DC...inline electrics are volume based, not pressure unless they are FI specific. Usually 7 to 8 lbs versus 15 or better. Go with the in tank pump, save the hassle.
