What are Halo rings?

I'm getting ready to upgrade from my sealed beams. I'm poking around Amazon and all the decently priced H4 conversions have these "halo ring" things.

These are the really bright white led thingies that go around the headbulb and are on all the time, like on the new Audi cars?

On my old runner I had regular glass h4 conversions housings with piaa intense white h4 bulbs and they were far better than stock.

That's what I was afraid of. Those things are not for me. I'll add "-halo" to my search terms.

What company makes the housings? I've been looking for awhile now, and cant find the housings I'm looking for (I may not be calling them the right thing in my searches), but am looking for housings that don't have refracted lenses (want clear), but have had no luck. A company name would help.

I have found the Zenon/HID kits here... http://www.hidnation.com/90hilowhidki.html but need (want) clear housings (lenses) to put the bulbs etc. in.
Anyone...

Just think how much cooler you would be with halo's.

The real reason I got mine was because they were black. My only other option was RBP. They look stupid and cost more than i ever wanted to pay.

GonOver, could you crack the housings and disable the halos if you wanted to?

I looked at the examples some of you have given links to, but still am faced with the problem of having non-sealed beams to start with. I have a 94 which means the entire "bucket" to include aiming hardware etc. needs to be replaced, not just the sealed beam type bulb.

The halo's are wired separately. Mine serve as the parking lights. You don't have to use the halo's on any light if you don't want to. No need to crack the housing.

Welcome to my boat. 92-95 4runners are limited to just upgrading the bulb itself. Unless you are awesome and mold something in to replace it. I am not awesome.
