conundrum!

so what do i do! i have a near mint 87 with 400k on the clock completely ground up resto'ed on 06/0.7 I own a 07 FJ which i have ...lightly wheeled cuz as other fj owners know insurance is steep for some reason! (was less for my 2002 ML320 WTH!) I LOVE both rigs. i literally flip a coin to see which i drive. what should i do is the question i pose to the 1st gen runner fans . keep it stock and maintain it, lightly mod it for trail use, or go all out on it? OR beat up the FJ!

Don't tear it up with mods. There's plenty of 1/2 destroyed trucks to do that to. I think if it's a really good shape, you ought to keep it that way.

Doesn't mean you can't wheel it, though.

Build it to suit your needs. It's your 4runner. Any 4runner can be restored to original condition, S2kPuddydad is proof of that. So cut it up, beat it up, tear it up... do what you feel that you need to do in order to enjoy it more.
