Repair manuals

Other than Haynes or Chilton, are there any picture heavy repair manuals specific to the 3VZE? I hate the Haynes book I bought and the Chilton book has poor reviews.

Like that, but with digital images. I'm a very visual learner. Digitali mages and videos are very helpful to me.

Buy the factory volume set from toyota. It is brilliant to say the least. It is about as good as manuals get in my view. It would be nice if Porsche and BMW made them as detailed as Toyota does. I believe the set was about $90-110 new and worth every penny.
regards

There are a ton of pics from other peeps over on yotatech. Also, youtube may be your friend as well. There's a bunch of tech that people post on youtube. Some of it is some redneck nonsense but some of it is good stuff. Just filter through it and you will find the useful stuff.

The FSM assumes you're a trained Toyota tech and is sometimes frustratingly vague. I've had really good luck with the FSM in combination with Youtube. Sometimes the online repair guides at Autozone.com are helpful with visualizing what you're doing too.

Forum posts are great, too, lots of guys posting pictures and such. To wade through the crap, I generally use Google to search a site for what I want, like "site:toyota-4runner.org ball joint replacement" or "site:yotatech.com 5vze engine swap".

That is freaking awesome. I Google the crap out of stuff but I never knew you could Google a site by typing it in that way. I am going to have a blast with that.

Repair Manuals

Looking for a less expensive way to get the factory repair manual for my '02 4runner. Was in parts and service for 45 years but my disability check won't allow me to cover the kind of money they want now days!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
