3.0 Engine Noise
My buddy has a 95 4Runner with a 3.0. It's got a weird noise that seems to be coming from underneath the front cover. It runs fine and accelerates normally. Coolant and oil levels are good. Oil pressure is good, water temp is normal.
It sounds like there is a small metallic part underneath the front cover? We removed the PS pump belt to eliminate the PS pump. It sounded like the pump was bad. It's a random metallic grinding noise. It doesn't necessarily change with engine rpm like a bad engine bearing or any other valve train issue. It's not a constant metallic howling like a seized bearing but a random crunching sound like something is being tossed around.
Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? Thanks.
