I sprung a leak

When I purchased this truck I had a slight oil leak, well now it has upgraded to a full blown oil leak. It appears to be coming out the front of the engine only and seems to be affecting the passengers side of the engine compartment. I am assuming it is problably the front main seal. Anybody do this on a v6 model? space is tight in there, but shouldn't be that hard to do it. Anything else it could possible be?

Save yourself some time - soak your front end in some degreaser (I like Simple Green), hose it off, and wipe it down. Make sure you know where your leak is before you start researching your repair.

I agree with Kid v too. Get that stuff cleaned up the best you can, then once its all clean, start the truck and watch the engine to see where the oil is coming from.

Could also be valve cover gaskets...

Valve covers are clean. It is coming out of the bottom front. I will soak it before I change anything

Bottom front sure sounds like a front main. Best to be sure though, good luck!

Check the PCV valve. If its stuck it can allow buildup of pressure and cause seals to leak. Also that stop leak stuff can really slow down a leak if you don't want to fix it right away.

My grandfather passed away this morning so it will have to wait. I looked last night and am wondering if it could be powersteering fluid. I checked the oils and it didn't appear to be low. The powersteering was a little low but as much as I have coming out I figured it would have been really low and it wasn't.

Sorry about your grandfather. Lost mine last year.... A powersteering leak is most likely easier to fix than swapping in a new front main seal.. Keep us updated.

Get it cleaned off, drop some dye in the oil tank, and see what happens.

When you're done being with your family, that is. Some things take priority, sorry for your loss.
