Power window wiring

Sorry for the retarrd question, but I'm a dummy when it comes to electronics. I scored a pair of doors with power windows, but they're missing the interior door skins with the controls. The plug on the door harness just has two contacts... I want to test these things and make sure the motors work, and I thought I could just jump 12v from the battery, but I also thought I'd have a ground and two power terminals to work with (one for up, one for down).

Halp! How duz it werk?

Wire colors,
Up= lt. blue
Down= lt. blue w/ yellow strip

Looks like the motors ground through the body via bolting it to the door.

See, I looked at that chart, and my eyes glazed over and I almost fell out of my chair. Then you posted this, and all is right with the world.

Thanks, yo, I take back half the bad things I said about you.

Ok, so... I've got a couple chunks of 14g, one between a mounting bolt on the door and the negative battery post, and the other between the positive battery post and either terminal on the doors window motor plug. No dice, it doesn't even try.

I stuck my voltmeter in line between the positive wire and another mounting bolt on the door, and I'm reading 11.75 volts, so I think I have good battery and ground, yes? Probably a dead motor?

I did.

They were out in the weather, so I was expecting something of the sort. Just wanted to make sure before I go buy new motors.

I would say pull the motor caps off and check the armature and brushes, but it sounds like they are shot. If you do decide to get new ones, at least it would be worth messin around with to see if you can get them working. Back-ups are always good.

I s'pose I could try and refurb them. First I gotta get them out of the door, though, I think they're rusted onto the regulator.

Damned bas****s leaving their crap out... there's not enough of these trucks left anyway, and now we have to trash the few remaining parts that are still out there?

There's plenty of them in the NW, just not where they rot away in SLC. I used to live there I know about how much they blanket the roads with salt.
